(BGO) - In response to urgent requirements on the Covid-19 prevention and control, in mid-May, the People's Committee of Bac Giang province decided to temporarily close four industrial parks and suspend the operation of many businesses in districts and Bac Giang city.
On May 25, the province planned to reorganize safe production for enterprises in the industrial parks. Accordingly, hundreds of businesses resumed operations, initially maintaining orders and restoring the global supply chain. However, it is necessary for them to arrange accommodations for workers.
Production associated with epidemic prevention and control
Nearly a month ago, after reviewing, the province initially allowed units that strictly complied with epidemic prevention and control measures to resume production. Accordingly, the operation model of enterprises is different from before: focusing on preventing the pandemic not only outside but also inside factories and workshops.

The number of workers working at enterprises is also limited according to a ratio set for each period. Workers are checked for safety conditions and vaccinated. Businesses must arrange accommodations and meals for employees at the companies or concentrated dormitories, absolutely not letting them contact people outside. Workers go to the workshops on shuttle buses, have their temperature checked, wear face masks, and sit apart in small groups.
Implementing the above regulations, these days, a series of enterprises in the industrial parks have gradually stabilized production and many lines have restarted in association with the strict implementation of regulations on pandemic prevention and control. At Siflex Vietnam Co., Ltd., based in the Quang Chau Industrial Park, in the workshops, workers are urgently completing soft printed circuit boards for cars, phones and tablets to promptly deliver them to partners under contracts.
Many other enterprises are also focusing on resuming production, such as New Wing Interconnect Technology Co., Ltd, in the Van Trung Industrial Park with more than 1,600 workers; and Fuyu Precision Technology Co., Ltd in the Quang Chau Industrial Park with 900 employees…
Considering borrowing schools for workers’ temporary accommodations
According to the provincial IPs Management Board, in mid-May, about 340 enterprises in four industrial zones in the province temporarily suspended operations to prevent and control the pandemic. After a month of implementing the plan to reorganize production, the board has allowed 161 eligible businesses to resume operations, of which about 125 companies have gone into official production with more than 17,000 workers.

However, when resuming operations, most enterprises faced difficulties in the initial stage due to labor shortage, leading to their operation capacity reaching only 10-30 percent of pre-pandemic levels.
Determining the restoration of business operations to bring Bac Giang to a new stage: both fighting the pandemic and promoting safe production, the provincial People's Committee directed relevant agencies, districts and Bac Giang city to create favorable conditions and guide enterprises to solve problems. Deputy head of the provincial IPs Management Board Nguyen Xuan Ngoc said that in the past time, the board and 35 working groups of the province have focused on guiding businesses to develop plans for safe production.
Regarding the arrangement of accommodations for workers, the board urged the units that do not have a dormitory to urgently renovate workshops and offices and divide them into rooms for workers to stay. It is coordinating with a number of districts to survey a number of preschools, primary and secondary schools that are on summer vacation to serve as temporary shelters for workers.
At the same time, the board coordinates with districts to make a list of boarding houses, motels and hotels to convert them into concentrated accommodations for workers. Enterprises will arrange shuttle buses to transport employees and ask them to eat at the companies and not to come into contact with people outside when returning to their accommodations. In the long term, the province requires localities to devise plans on the rearrangement of boarding houses associated with the operation of industrial zones.
