Businesses regain growth momentum

(BGO) - Over the past two months, with the support of authorities at all levels and relevant agencies, businesses in Bac Giang province have made great efforts to overcome difficulties due to the impact of the Covid-19 epidemic to restore production and business, returning to the new normal. To date, all enterprises inside and outside the industrial parks have resumed operations, with industrial production value growing quite well.

Back to normal, revenue increases

In May, due to the impact of the Covid-19 epidemic, many employees of Ha Phong Export Garment Joint Stock Company based in Doan Bai commune (Hiep Hoa district) residing in areas under lockdown and social distancing were temporarily laid off. Over the past 2 months, the epidemic has been basically controlled, the company has quickly restored production and business activities. It has rebuilt its operating model in the new situation, both promoting production and strictly complying with epidemic prevention measures.

Crystal Martin Vietnam Co., Ltd., based in the Quang Chau Industrial Park organizes periodic Covid-19 testing for workers.

The company has increased shifts, working hours and bonuses for employees. Up to now, all of its employees have returned to work, and its production lines have operated normally, reaching the same capacity as pre-epidemic level. Last July, the company exported millions of clothing products of all kinds, and its revenue increased by 10 percent compared to April and 30 percent against May.

Similarly, Siflex Vietnam Co., Ltd (Quang Chau Industrial Park) has 6,000 workers back to work, equal to the number before the epidemic. In July and August 2021, the unit arranged for workers to work overtime to complete the signed orders. Its July revenue came in at 32 million USD, double that of May and roughly the same as April.

Speeding up production but ensuring safety

As of early August, 369 enterprises in industrial zones (reaching 100 percent) and 218 enterprises outside industrial zones (95 percent) in the province had resumed operations. In the new normal state when the epidemic is curbed, many businesses have been focusing on production to fulfill the orders of partners. The capacity of enterprises' production lines has basically recovered as before the epidemic.

Nguyen Cuong, Deputy Director of the provincial Department of Planning and Investment, said that in July, enterprises that stopped operating and returned to normal activities contributed to boosting the July industrial production value of the province, which reached 19.96 trillion VND (873 million USD), nearly 10 percent higher than the previous month. The figure in the first seven months of the year was 148.58 trillion VND (6.5 billion USD), up 10.5 percent over the same period last year.

Currently, Bac Giang has basically contained the Covid-19 epidemic, but in many provinces and cities throughout the country, especially southern provinces, the pandemic is still developing complicatedly with the number of infections (F0) reaching thousands per day. Facing that situation, the provincial People's Committee requested relevant forces as well as localities to urgently implement solutions to continue supporting businesses to operate stably.

Enterprises need to take advantage of opportunities, improve machinery, and apply new technologies to speed up production to compensate for revenue shortfalls due to the epidemic. In particular, companies must seriously comply with the regulations on Covid-19 prevention and control, and strictly control the pandemic in all stages, especially the transport of goods for long-distance drivers, preventing the epidemic from returning.

Currently, businesses are strictly complying with epidemic prevention and control measures. At each enterprise, a Covid-19 safety team has been established to monitor the health of employees and customers. A medical room is arranged in the quarantine area to measure the body temperature of workers before entering the workshop and take samples for testing as many times as required.

Districts and Bac Giang city are making efforts to implement the "dual goal" of preventing and fighting the epidemic while boosting socio-economic development, focusing on site clearance for projects and creating favorable conditions for enterprises to build factories and expand production scale.
