The government takes out 130,000 tons of rice to support 24 provinces and cities

The Prime Minister has decided to take out more than 130,000 tons of rice from the national reserve to support 24 provinces and cities facing hardship due to Covid-19.

According to Document 1415/QD-TTg, in consideration of the proposal from the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs along with the Ministry of Finance, the Prime Minister has decided that the Ministry of Finance will issue 130,175.67 tons of rice without collecting money from the national reserve without collecting money to 24 provinces and cities to support those who are facing difficulties due to the Covid-19 epidemic in 2021.

The Government has exported 130,000 tons of rice to support 24 provinces and cities facing hardship due to Covid-19.

The list of 24 provinces and cities includes: Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang City, Can Tho City, An Giang, Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Ben Tre, Binh Duong, Binh Dinh, Binh Thuan, Ca Mau, Dak Lak, Dak Nong, Dong Nai, Dong Thap, Khanh Hoa, Kien Giang, Long An, Nghe An, Ninh Thuan, Tay Ninh, Tien Giang, Tra Vinh, Phu Yen, Vinh Long.

Some localities are in need of large quantities of support rice, for example, Ho Ho Chi Minh City, with over 4.74 million people (about 1.58 million households), will receive about 71,100 tons; Binh Duong needs 11,325 tons for support; Can Tho city needs more than 5,000 tons; Dong Thap province 5,880 tons; Dong Nai 3,128 tons; Binh Thuan 4,018 tons; Tien Giang 3,006 tons; Ben Tre 2,408 tons; Phu Yen 1,852 tons...

The Decision also clearly states that the People's Committees of the cities and provinces under Central mentioned above are responsible for the accuracy of the report data and for providing rice support quickly, in time, to the right subjects, commensurate with the prescribed norms and in accordance with the act of epidemic prevention and control at localities.

If difficulties still remain even after having received support, the People's Committees of the provinces and cities under Central are requested to send a document to the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs and the Ministry of Finance for submission to the Prime Minister for consideration of further supports.
