Bac Giang to support solar panel companies

(BGO)- Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee of Bac Giang province Le Anh Duong on May 12 chaired a meeting with the companies producing solar panels in the industrial parks (IPs) of the province.

Currently, the province is home to 12 solar cell producers. Besides, there are a number of enterprises manufacturing and processing components and accessories using solar energy.

The technical infrastructure of the solar panel companies has been invested synchronously to meet the requirements for production. The total revenue of these companies in 2021 reached more than 51.3 trillion VND (2.2 million USD), accounting for about 20.18 percent of the total revenue of the companies in the IPs.

In coming time, a number of enterprises will continue to expand their investment but they still face several difficulties. Due to impact of Covid-19 pandemic, in order to avoid break of the supply chain of raw materials, some enterprises had to change the mode of transportation from roadway and waterway to the airline causing sharp increase in transportation costs.

Besides, the United States Department of Commerce has conducted an anti-fraud investigation in four ASEAN countries relating Chinese solar panels since March 25, 2022. The US may extend anti-dumping and anti-subsidy taxes on crystalline silicon photovoltaic cells and modules (CSPV) imported from China for export from Southeast Asian countries including Vietnam, which affects production and processing of solar panel companies in Vietnam causing a large number of unsold goods.

The companies requested the province to recommend the competent agencies of Vietnam to voice concerns about the investigation by the US Department of Commerce. Besides, the province was required to support negotiation on opening the border gates relating China to facilitate import of materials for production to prevent break of the solar cell production lines.

Speaking at the meeting, the provincial Chairman Le Anh Duong stressed, the solar panel companies play an important part to socio-economic development of the province and development of Vietnam’s energy sector as well.

The province will grasp the opinions and recommendations of the companies and direct related departments and agencies to immediately handle the issues within the province’s authority. Besides, the province will recommend resolving the issues under authority of the upper levels. The province always accompanies the enterprises and provides the best support for their stable production and increasing growth.
