Due to the Covid-19 epidemic, it faced numerous difficulties and even had to close the market at a time while pig farming was unstable. Realizing the potential from the forest economy, earlier this year, the cooperative rented land in the district’s Cam Dan commune to open a wood processing workshop.
The cooperative increased its charter capital from 2 billion VND to 7 billion VND (84,400-288,400 USD) to purchase veneer peeling and waste collection machines and trucks. Currently, the cooperative peels more than 1,000 tons of veneer and handle 60-70 tons of garbage per month, earning 600-700 million VND (24,700-28,800 USD).
According to statistics, the province now has 330 non-agricultural cooperatives, an increase of 64 compared to the beginning of 2021. Of which, 120 operate in the fields of industry and handicraft, 104 engage in trade and service activities, and the remaining transport business and environment services.
Despite accounting for only 32.6% of the total number of cooperatives in the province, non-agricultural cooperatives make up nearly 58% of the total capital. Thanks to their business acumen and multi-industry activities, most of them have developed stably, creating jobs and high incomes for workers.
Supporting, removing difficulties for non-agricultural cooperatives
According to the provincial Cooperative Union, non-agricultural cooperatives operate in a variety of industries and services with increasingly high quality. Many have optimized their advantages, actively found appropriate directions, invested in technological innovation, and applied quality management systems to create many products that become high-quality specialties of the province.
The Cooperative Union has guided and supported 51 cooperatives to access the cooperative development support funds of the Government and province with a total amount of more than 17 billion VND (699,200 USD). It has also connected to put 60 products of 20 non-agricultural cooperatives on sales at Xuan Khiem rest stop in Ninh Binh province and Aeon Mall supermarket system in Hanoi. |
Among them are Da Mai dry noodles, Van Huong wine, Ke rice pancake, Chu noodles, Ven village green tea, yellow flower tea, vegetable oils and peanut candies.
However, many local non-agricultural cooperatives faced difficulties in accessing aid sources and bank loans. Some lacked production spaces, with untrained workforce, simple and less competitive products.
In order to support cooperatives, in addition to maintaining experience exchanges among non-agricultural cooperatives, the provincial Cooperative Union have regularly organized trade promotion events and supported member units to participate in fairs and exhibitions, and introduce their products and goods to consumers…
