(BGO)- Many firms and households in northern province of Bac Giang choose to use smart phone and computer connected to internet for automatic operation and supervision of animal and caring techniques. Thanks to innovation, many automatic models have been established contributing to improving productivity and product quality and reducing environment pollution.
Pig feeding in close and automatic procedures
According to Ngo Xuan Truong, Director of Son Dong Livestock Company Limited in Long Son commune, Son Dong district, his company has built different areas for sow caring and commercial pig feeding on 100 hectares. These areas are surrounded with fences and separated from the staff’s area and

Since July 2017, the company has maintained a herd of 5,000 sows and 15,000 commercial pigs. It supplies about 430 tonnes of pork to the market each month.
They invested a system of fans, lighting and automatic feeders. After being mixed, the feed is brought into the tanks connected to computer systems. The technicians will set up volumes of feed and feeding time into cylinders to plumb feed to each trough depending on the ages of pigs.
Similar to 50 sensors, temperature in the barns is automatically adjusted according to outside temperature to ensure stable temperature from 22 to 28 Celsius degree.
One worker takes care of 15,000 chickens
We visited the chicken raising model of Kim Tan Minh Company Limited in Huong Thinh village, Quang Minh commune, Hiep Hoa district in very cold weather. The outside temperature is very low, but when we got into to the egg-laying areas, we were surprised at very warm temperature inside (about 25 Celsius degree).

After visiting around this area, we found all of the steps in chicken caring techniques are supported with machines and technologies, many of which are totally automatic. Animal feed is brought to the coops at fixed time through piping system. Feed will be automatically pumped into the troughs on time.
The automatic trolley system will collect the eggs to the head of each barn row at 3pm everyday when workers just stand to receive and put the eggs into the trays then bring them to the market. Besides, waste is automatically gathered to the treatment area at the beginning of the day.
“Although we have 15,000 hens, we only need one worker to care and work at this area thanks to the machinery and technologies. Reduction of labour force in feed processing helps to reduce risks of epidemic”, said Vu Duc Thuyen.
Highly increased productivity
Although he has raised fish for 20 years, Vu Ngoc Huan (born in 1964) in Dai Giap village, Dai Lam commune, Lang Giang district could not imagine how easy the aquaculture was. According to Huan, thanks to the aquaculture project in lowland areas in 2003, he was supported to rent 10,000 square metre of land to invest in building ponds and cages for aquaculture.

Thanks to the guidance and technical support by the Sub-department of fishery, his family has assembled 3 oxygen generators and 2 automatic fish feeding machines on 8,000 square metre of fish pond. The oxygen generator system is connected to the sensors, which is automatically turned on and off depending on weather and pond conditions. The water technical specifications are also automatically analyzed helping the household to promptly adjust and handle arising incidents.
“Currently, the province has nearly 20 livestock models (mainly chicken and pig raising models) and 55 hectares of aquaculture applied with automatic systems in production steps. In line with labor force reduction, application of automation has contributed to enhancing production values, of which aquaculture productivity increases from 8 to 10 tonnes per hectare per year to 14 to 15 tonnes per hectare per year. In line with continuing to implement the automation development in livestock project, the agricultural sector will pay attention to inviting investors in livestock, providing guidance and technical assistant for households applying automation into livestock farming to expand the models”, said Duong Thanh Tung, Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.
