Ferrosilicon plant inaugurated in Thai Nguyen Province

A ferrosilicon plant was inaugurated by the Thai Nguyen Metallurgical Electromechanical Company (MECO) in the northern province of Thai Nguyen on February 6.

With a capacity of 12,000 tonnes a year, the plant is the biggest of its kind in Vietnam.

After two years of construction and testing, the plant is now operational, with a daily output of 40 tonnes of ferrosilicon containing 72-75% of silicon content, meeting the requirements for domestic steel production and export.

The plant will create jobs for 230 people and will contribute 50 billion VND (2.1 million USD) annually to the provincial budget.

Ferrosilicon is used in the production of steel and is a material for producing solar cells.

Over the past years, Vietnam’s steel-making industry had to import nearly all of its ferrosilicon demand. As such, the inauguration of the Thai Nguyen plant will help meet the demand of local steel manufacturers.

Vietnam currently has only two ferrosilicon plants and the one in Thai Nguyen Province is the biggest.

(BGO) – In 2022, Bac Giang province cleared over 210 hectares of land in industrial park, exceeding the set plan and helping infrastructure investor speed up the construction progress, create clean land fund for investment attraction.

 

Nenh and Ngoc Van industrial clusters established in Bac Giang

(BGO) – The People’s Committee in Bac Giang province has issued Decision to establish Nenh industrial cluster in Viet Yen district and Ngoc Van industrial cluster in Tan Yen district.

 

Bac Giang ensures progress of site clearance for industrial parks

(BGO) - This year, Bac Giang province ranks ninth in the country in terms of foreign direct investment (FDI) attraction. In order to lure more FDI, the provincial People's Committee is focusing on directing agencies and localities to speed up the site clearance for newly and expanded industrial parks (IPs) in order to hand over the land to infrastructure investors on schedule.
