(BGO) – Completing Results-based Scaling Up Rural Sanitation and Water Supply Program (Program) with World Bank loan, many centralized water supply projects in Bac Giang province are built, revamped and put in operation, hence helping increase the rate of people to use clean water so as to improve the quality of life.
The Program consisted of rural water supply, rural sanitation, communication and supervision. It was implemented during 2016 – 2020 period with extension till April 2023. Total investment hit over 277 billion VND (11.8 million USD), including over 210 billion VND from World Bank loan and remaining from local budget, credit capital and others.

The Center of Clean Water and Rural Sanitation (Department of Agriculture and Rural Development) was in charge of clean water supply component with total capital of over 183 billion VND. Completing the programe, four centralized water supply projects were built in the districts of Hiep Hoa, Yen The, Luc Nam and Luc Ngan while 10 others were revamped, repaired, upgraded and expanded in four above mentioned districts and Son Dong district (100 percent). 11,135 water meters were tied in.
Centralized clean water factory in Dai Thanh – Hop Thinh communes (Hiep Hoa district) is one of four newly constructed projects. In 2020, the project was invested over 25 billion VND with various items of office, water filter system, operation station, substation among others. By the end of 2021, it entered operation. Now the factory ensures to supply water to more than 900 local households.
Duy Anh Construction and Trading One Member Company Limited in Hai Duong province is the project managing unit. The company Director Nguyen Dinh Tuan said before supplying clean water to the families, the operators put source water through filter system for treatment so as to ensure the standard of the Health Ministry. Regularly, the staff take water samples at some families for testing at prestigious facilities.
55.99 percent of rural households in the province had clean water in 2022. Bac Giang province strives to raise this rate up to 92 percent by 2030 (100 percent in urban area and 90 percent in rural area). |
Ngo Van Doan, a local in Da Hoi village, Hop Thinh commune shared delightedly: “Previously, my family and many others must use well water. For a long time, the water is contaminated with limestone, which damages appliances such as pots and pans, washing machines, and water heaters. When we can use clean water, the problem no longer exists”.
In 2022, 55.99 percent of rural households in the province had clean water. Bac Giang province strives to raise this rate up to 92 percent by 2030 (100 percent in urban area and 90 percent in rural area).
To realize this target, the Center of Clean Water and Rural Sanitation integrates capital sources to build, revamp and upgrade centralized water supply system; further collaborates with organizations to communicate and raise people’s awareness about clean water.
Besides, the Center of Clean Water and Rural Sanitation enhances inspection and evaluation of current project situation, suggests managing and operating units to flexibly and actively do business to keep and extend customers.
