(BGO) – Hoang Van Khang (born in 1991) and Luc Van Quyet (born in 1993), technicians from Yen The Forestry Company Limited won the second prize at the agricultural startup initiative competition. With hope to form a cultivating area for forest-grown bo khai vegetable, they are working to put research into reality.

Acknowledging economic potentials of the vegetable, they decided to breed some plants in their company’s nursing area. After the trial time, they asked the company’s managing board to allow them to branch out the cultivating model for the vegetable and conduct a scientific research on it.
Khang said they were hit by mass vegetable deaths in the first days of growing the plant due to their inexperience. Learning from initial failures, they decided to use bio-products to treat the root of the vegetable. With clonal propagation method, they chose healthy ones and prepared a mixture of microbiological fertiliser, decomposed manure and forest humus to plant the vegetable.
