Da Mai safe agricultural production and trading cooperative

(BGO) – Founded in May 2017 with 30 members, the Da Mai Safe Agricultural Production and Trading Cooperative (Da Mai Cooperative) steps by steps put the operation in an order, bringing the initial economic effectiveness for its members.

Under the new method of running, Da Mai Cooperative is currently supplying the local signature agricultural products such as vermicelli, rolled cake (a Vietnamese rice dish), banhtro (made from sticky rice soaked into the ash water), banhchung, rice, wine, vegetables and fruits, pork, seafood and poultry products.

Specifying that product quality plays a key role for its existence and development, the Cooperative’s Boards of Executive and Director have paid the regular attention to persuading, inspecting, supervising its members to correctly follow the food safety and hygiene regulations during production and trading.

According to Than Le Thanh Mai, a member of the cooperative revealed that the members have been trained the knowledge of food safety and hygiene, checked for the health condition, granted a certificate of food safety and hygiene guarantee when joining in the cooperative.

Vu Thi Thuy, Deputy Chairwoman of the Women’s Association in the chapter of Da Mai ward, President of the Executive Board and Director of the Da Mai Cooperative informed that: The Boards of Executive and Director have acted as the guiding sectors to present the various measurements to deal with the initial difficulties, search to expand the market, introduce and promote the products as well as build the trademark and origin stamp. It is scheduled to stamp these products of vermicelli, cake, fruits, vegetables and wine for origin traceability then supply to the market before the 2018 lunar Tet holiday under the support from Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.

To date, the Da Mai Cooperative has linked with Da Mai Safe Vegetable Production Cooperative and Da Mai Cake and Vermicelli Production Cooperative in product consumption. Every day, about one ton of various products are supplied to the supermarket, collective kitchen, restaurant, and markets in the city creating the stable jobs for households with an average income of 4 – 5 million VND (176 – 220 USD) per month per member. The Cooperative’s vegetable, fruit, cake and vermicelli were honored as the typical products in the year of 2017.
