Orchards welcome visitors

(BGO) – To prepare for the Fair of orange, pomelo and signature products in Luc Ngan district, Bac Giang province to be held on November 29 – December 1, the farmers in the district have promptly beautified their orchards and cared for the fruit trees to welcome the visitors. 

As one of the families closely attaching to the fruit trees in Luc Ngan district, it is the fourth year the orchard of Tran Van Bay and Lai Thi Tam in Min Con village, Tru Huu commune has been selected by the Fair’s Organization Board to welcome the fruit lovers and tradesmen on this occasion.

With over 1 hectare, his family grows many fruit trees such as jack fruit, guava, avocado, jujube and mostly orange and pomelo. Now, the green skin pomelo and yellow flesh orange trees are laden with juicy fruits to lure any visitor.

According to the statistic of the district Division of Agriculture and Rural Development, Luc Ngan district is home to 6,740 hectares of citrus fruit trees, mostly orange and pomelo with estimated output of 58 – 60,000 tonnes of fruits this year. The district authority selected 30 orchards to welcome the fruit lovers to visit, taste and buy the fruits under a concentrated scale so as to help the orchards’ owners to leave a good impression on the tourists and tradesmen.

To prepare for the Fair, family of Ly Duc Oanh in Se Cu village, Thanh Hai commune also well prepared the orchard to welcome the fruit lovers. With the key products of Canh Sweet orange, his one hectare orchard is expected to yield some 25 tonnes of fruits. Oanh said the fair is an important occasion for the fruit growers to promote the homeland specialties to the visitors and tradesmen near and far.

According to the competent agencies, most of the orchard owners have paid special attention to the quality of the fruit tree in general and citrus in particular; thus they strictly followed VietGAP standard during cultivation, harvest and preservation. The fruits’ appearance and quality are guaranteed.

Well known as a concentrated fruit area with many fruits such as lychee, orange, pomelo, jujube..., Luc Ngan district has recently applied the advanced science and technology into production to enhance the productivity and product quality while launching many activities to link the demand and supply in order to introduce the local signature products to a wider range of customers.

To leave good imprint on visitors and tradesmen, this year the district selected 30 out of 5,000 orchards to welcome the fruit lovers, mostly in the communes of Tru Huu, Thanh Hai, Tan Moc, Hong Giang, Tan Quang .... These orchards are developed under VietGAP procedure with good looking and hi-quality fruits, large scale and smooth traffic.

The local authority also coordinated with the communes and orchards’ owners to arrange the people in charge of welcoming the visitors then take them on tours as well as instruct them to buy the fruits safely. Simultaneously, the orchards will be supported a part of expense from the budget to deliver the guest reception services.

According to Permanent Vice Chairman of Luc Ngan district People’s Committee Cao Van Hoan, it is the second consecutive year the district has organized the Fair of orange, pomelo and signature products. Previously, Luc Ngan held two Fruit Festivals.

The event is a good chance for the locality to introduce about Luc Ngan land, people and signature products as well as boosting up the linkage of partner to consume the farm produce to introduce the local specialties to a wider market.
