(BGO) - On the evening of June 16, the Japan Federation of Young Leaders and Entrepreneurs (JCI) in collaboration with JCI Vietnam under the Ho Chi Minh City Young Entrepreneurs Association organized an online seminar to promote trade between Vietnam and Japan, with the participation of a number of businesses and associations from both nations, including those in Bac Giang province.
From Bac Giang, a representative of the provincial Department of Industry and Trade briefed participants on the socio-economic situation of Bac Giang province, and introduced the largest concentrated fruit tree area in the North, nearly 50,000 hectares, with lychee being a specialty.

An overview of the webinar from Bac Giang. |
Currently, Bac Giang lychee has its brand protected in dozens of countries around the world. In particular, in March 2021, it became the first Vietnamese product to be officially granted a geographical indication in Japan. This is an opportunity that opens up a new direction for lychee to enter this high-end market. Many Japanese enterprises actively signed contracts to purchase Bac Giang lychee.
This year, Bac Giang’s lychee production is estimated at 180,000 tonnes. Currently, the early-ripening lychee has been sold out, and the harvest of the main-crop lychee is expected to end on July 15.
The Department of Industry and Trade representative hoped that Japanese units would connect and cooperate in the sale of lychee and other agricultural products of the province. Agencies and units in Bac Giang will actively simplify administrative procedures to create the most favorable conditions for businesses and traders to supervise the purchase and sale of lychee, especially procedures related to foreign enterprises and traders.
Many Japanese businesses and competent agencies have exchanged information on lychee selling prices and said they will consider buying lychee as well as other agricultural products of Bac Giang province.
