The farmers in Khuon Trang village, Ho Dap commune harvest the lychee for export.

So far, the district has sold about 122,000 tonnes of lychee, up more than 1,000 tonnes comparing to the initial estimation. Of which, over 36,570 tonnes were exported to China (32,200 tonnes); Cambodia, Laos and Malaysia (over 4,240 tonnes – the highest ever figure) and other markets.

85,150 tonnes of the fruits were sold domestically, 44,210 tonnes of which were dried. The district also exported 10,628 tonnes of dried lychees, over two fold increase year on year.

Recently, the local special fruits have been sold at 12,000 – 27,000 VND per kg, 10 percent lower than the price in the middle of season, mostly to process to dried products which are consumed at 45,000 – 60,000 VND per kg.

Vice Chairman of Luc Ngan district People’s Committee Nguyen The Thi said now the district has about 15,000 tonnes of lychees, mostly in 6 up hill communes. After receiving the authority announcement to apply social isolation at 10 local communes in line with the Government Prime Minister’s Decree No.16, the lychee was consumed normally because these localities basically harvested most of the fruits and are now drying the remaining ones.

The district has planned to support the farmers in up land to harvest the remaining lychees. As schedule, the district will end the lychee season 10 days earlier than last year.
