Two "Yen The hill chicken" products meet 4-star OCOP standards

(BGO) - With favorable natural advantages to develop the hill garden economy, in recent years, Yen The district (Bac Giang province) has promoted the development of animal husbandry, especially raising hill chickens. Thanks to that, Yen The's chicken meat paste and vacuum-packed chicken meat are rated as 4-star OCOP products.

Yen The hill chicken brings in 1.4 trillion VND per year

Over the past time, Yen The hill chicken has become a key agricultural product that brings in a production value of up to 1.4 trillion VND (61 million USD) per year to farmers in Yen The district.

Determining that chicken farming brings in high income and chicken is a key agricultural product with high quality that meets the market's consumption demand, over the past years, Yen The district has developed concentrated hill chicken breeding, and many households have become rich from raising chickens.

In 2011, Yen The hill chicken was granted the "Yen The hill chicken" trademark protection certificate by the Intellectual Property Office of Vietnam under the Ministry of Science and Technology.

To continue sustainable development of the "Yen The hill chicken" brand, Yen The district has issued many specific programmes and projects to bring the hill chicken to many markets.

Currently, the chicken flock in Yen The district remains stable, at between 3.8 million and 4.2 million heads per year. Many large-scale farms are concentrated in communes such as Dong Tam, Dong Ky, Canh Nau, Tien Thang, Tam Hiep, Tam Tien...

With the stable flock size and confirmed quality, Yen The district annually supplies 10-12 million chickens to the market (accounting for about 60 percent of the district's livestock production value). Yen The hill chicken is not only the main product of the district but also one of the key agricultural products of Bac Giang province.

Now Yen The hill chicken products are familiar to consumers nationwide. Besides the domestic market, they will step by step look towards export. The "Yen The hill chicken" trademark has obtained industrial property protection in three countries namely China, Singapore, and Laos.

In order to create quality products, meeting the requirements and standards for export, in 2021, the Bac Giang provincial Department of Livestock and Veterinary Medicine has built disease-free chicken breeding areas and production establishments in Yen The.

Two products meet 4-star OCOP standards

With the goal of supplying the market with quality products, the Yen The Green Agriculture Cooperative is considered a pioneer in the production and processing of agro-forestry-fishery products. The cooperative pays special attention to building and developing a Yen The hill chicken production chain.

The chicken meat paste and vacuum-packed chicken of the Yen The Green Agriculture Cooperative have been recognized as 4-star OCOP products.

Giap Quy Cuong, Director of Yen The Green Agriculture Cooperative, said that the total chicken flock of more than 20 cooperative members is about 20,000 heads on average.

After a period of market research for the products, initially, the cooperative has provided the market with more than 15 tonnes of slaughtered chickens, 500kg of chicken meat paste and over 80 tonnes of live chickens.

Responding to the district's One Commune One Product (OCOP) programme, recently, the Yen The Green Agriculture Cooperative has paid special attention to the development and standardization of OCOP products.

Cuong said that in addition to the two traditional products, which are live chicken and slaughtered chicken, in recent years, the cooperative has launched a number of new products such as chicken meat paste, chicken rolls and vacuum-packed chicken meat. Despite the limited output, with good quality and beautiful design, these products have been accepted by consumers and gradually asserted their foothold in a number of markets such as Bac Giang, Hanoi, Quang Ninh, Hai Phong…

Yen The diversifies OCOP products

(BGO) – Implementing One Commune One Product (OCOP) programme, so far Yen The district (Bac Giang province) has had 15 agricultural products with protected brand and approval decision for valid application by National Office of Intellectual Property Vietnam (Ministry of Science and Technology) as well as 15 OCOP products at provincial level. The following ones are some typical products.  

 

22 new OCOP products certified

(BGO)- Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee of Bac Giang province has approved the results of the evaluation, classification and certification of 22 products participating the first One Commune One Product (OCOP) Programme of Bac Giang province in 2021.

 

E-commerce platforms support farmers to consume OCOP products

(BGO) – Now the lychee season ends, some e-commerce platforms such as Sendo.vn, Voso.vn, Postmart.vn... continue supporting the farmers in Bac Giang province to sell various farm prodce. Most of the products are One Commune One Product (OCOP) like Chu rice noodle, Yen Dung fragrant rice, dried lychee, Son Dong wild honey...

 

Summer OCOP Fair to open in Ha Long city on April 28

The One Commune One Product (OCOP) fair - Summer 2021 is planned to be launched on April 28 at the Quang Ninh Exhibition of Planning and Expo Center in Ha Long city, according to the provincial OCOP Steering Board.

 

Bac Giang: Nearly 50 percent of OCOP products are supplied to supermarket

(BGO) – According to the Division of Rural Development (Department of Agriculture and Rural Development) in Bac Giang province, now the province has 95 OCOP products,  50 percents of which are sold at several supermarkets of Big C, Co.op Mart, Fivimart, Vinmart, Vinmart+, Aone, Hapro...and many convenient stores, safe food stores in the provinces and cities across the country.
