Bac Giang actively prepares markets to export lychee

(BGO) – Recently, China has continued tightening commodity export via Lang Son border gate for Covid-19 prevention and control with only 90 – 100 carriages cleared from Vietnam on a daily basis, which creates more challenges for farm produce to export to this market.

As forecast, Bac Giang will face a lot of disadvantages to export lychee to China in 2022 via Lang Son border gate. Acknowledging the situation, the province has actively opened markets to export farm produce in the upcoming season.

Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Le Anh Duong and working delegation visit the production model of early ripening lychee of Tran Dinh Long in Lan Thinh village, Phuc Hoa commune.

The provincial People’s Committee newly attended the online forum themed “Trade promotion between Bac Giang province and Thailand – needs for exporting and bringing Vietnamese goods, farm produce to Thailand through OV business network in Thailand” jointly held by the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs (under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs), the Trade Promotion Agency (under the Ministry of Industry and Trade) and Foreign Investment Agency (under the Ministry of Planning and Investment).

Bac Giang hoped the authorities to support and connect to boost up export of lychee and other local advantage commodities to Thailand market. The proposal was acknowledged by Ambassador of Vietnam in Thailand and participating business community.

Previously, the province held meeting with Japanese enterprises to promote lychee consumption to the high demanding market in 2022 season, which proved many positive signals for an increasing quantity of lychee to be exported to Japan after the province recovers the shortcomings.

Active participation in economic forums, product connection and promotion to foreign companies indicated Bac Giang’s effort to open up new market for farm produce in general and lychee in particular.

According to the Department of Industry and Trade, apart from these above mentioned markets, Bac Giang continues diversifying export markets in which effectively maintains the traditional market of China, accelerates promotion activity to introduce lychee to higher demanding ones. Thanks to the efforts, we expect to help lychee growers to harvest more “golden season”.
