(BGO) - In order to support cooperatives in digitalization in production and business, the Cooperative Alliance of Bac Giang province is implementing a project to support the development of cooperatives that apply technology 4.0 in management of production and business activities. This is considered an effective solution to promote digital transformation in cooperatives.
Proactive approach
The Yen Dung Clean Vegetable Cooperative in Tien Dung commune (Yen Dung district) is one of the first cooperatives in the province to apply technology in agricultural production with many clean, safe and high-profit products.

Operational since September 2016 with an initial area of 13 hectares in Tien Dung commune, the cooperative now has a scale of 65 hectares, attracting nearly 100 workers, mainly local people, who participate in growing safe vegetables.
With the strong development of the current fourth Industrial Revolution, the application of technology in production, product promotion, consumption linkage and sale connection has given agricultural cooperatives many opportunities, becoming a useful solution to improve economic efficiency.
Adapting to this trend, many cooperatives have actively applied technology in all stages, especially production and sale. To ensure the right temperature for hens to lay eggs, the Manh Ngan Poultry Cooperative in Rung Dai village, Tam Tien commune (Yen The district) installed dozens of ventilation fans connected to sensors which automatically turn on and off depending on the outdoor temperature. These devices are connected to smartphones to monitor and adjust the temperature.
Similarly, the Quyen Huyen Agricultural Service Cooperative in Bao Dai commune (Luc Nam district) also installed sensor chips for its irrigation system. Or the Binh Minh Organic Agriculture Cooperative in Danh Thang commune (Hiep Hoa district) applies QR code for all pork products.
Technology 4.0 raises stature of cooperatives
According to statistics, in 2021, 141 cooperatives were newly established, bringing the total number of cooperatives in the province to 950, of which 884 are operating and the rest are temporarily suspended and waiting for dissolution. Although the province has many support mechanisms and policies, in fact, only 48 agricultural cooperatives have applied high technology in production and business.
In the 2021-2025 period, the provincial People's Committee allocates 2.7 billion VND to build an app to serve the management of production and business activities of cooperatives; support five cooperatives to digitize the management and operation process and invest in upgrading machinery and technological equipment. Five start-up cooperatives will be supported to develop plans for production and investing in technology machinery and equipment. |
From this fact, on October 5, 2021, the provincial People's Committee launched the protect "Supporting the development of cooperatives that apply technology 4.0 in the management of production and business activities and start-up agricultural cooperatives applying high technology in Bac Giang province for the 2021-2025 period”.
Accordingly, in this period, the provincial People's Committee allocates 2.7 billion VND (116,200 USD) to build an app to serve the management of production and business activities of cooperatives installed on smart devices (phones and tablets, computers...); successfully support and develop five cooperative models applying technology 4.0 and five models of start-up agricultural cooperatives applying high technology...
To realize the project, the provincial Cooperative Alliance has coordinated to select nine eligible cooperatives, mainly operating in the fields of cultivation and processing of vegetables, fruit trees and aquatic products. Nguyen Duc Hien, chairman of the alliance, said: “The project is likened to a "detonator" to activate digital transformation in cooperatives. At the selected facilities, we conducted surveys, and at the same time asked them to develop plans to purchase equipment for production, in which priority is given to technology for product processing and preservation".
