Yen The develops 10 more ha of VietGAP tea

(BGO) – Implementing the Project of sustainable agriculture development in Yen The district in 2022, the district Agriculture Service and Technique Center cooperated with the People’s Committee in Xuan Luong and Canh Nau communes to support tea production under VietGAP standard in 10 ha (5 ha in each commune) with total cost of over 300 million VND (nearly 13,000 USD).

The participating households will be provided with 70 percent of seedling cost, 50 percent of necessary material expense (fertilizer, plant protection product) and technical assistance to grow tea under VietGAP standard. The model is done from July to November 2022.

Now, Yen The has 535ha of tea, over 30 of which meet VietGAP standard. Xuan Luong and Canh Nau are two communes with biggest tea cultivation area that accounts for over 80 percent of total area in the district.

Tapping the advantage of hilly garden and cool climate in the mountain, for years the local people have focused on intensive cultivation to turn tea into commodity crop with trademark of Ven village tea.

Yen The tea’s quality is considered the same as the product of other famous tea growing area. The expansion of VietGAP tea area aims to supply high quality products and value to the market.
