Total livestock productivity in Bac Giang sharply increases

(BGO) – The livestock production in Bac Giang province continues smooth development in 2022, especially poultry. The total livestock productivity is estimated at  over 283,300 tonnes, up 23.3 percent against the yearly target and 5 percent year on year, reported the Division of Livestock Production and Veterinary (Division).  

Particularly, the province has a pig herd of 970,000 heads with output of 177,000 tonnes; 20 million heads of poultry (17 million chickens) with total productivity of 98,000 tonnes; 33,000 buffaloes with total productivity of 1,600 tonnes; 120,000 cows with total output of 6,000 tonnes.

The livestock product serves 40 percent of consumption market in the province and adjacent localities with total value of over 9,570 billion VND (385.1 million USD), surging over 5.4 percent comparing to the plan.

The above result was gained thanks to effective implementation of the direction from local authority and Department of Agriculture and Rural Development together with good collaboration among localities to well prevent and control disease, strictly quarantine animal transportation, apply biotechnology into safe livestock production to enhance the productivity.

The local breeding sector sharply switches toward reducing scattered breeding model, increasing centralized farm under close chain and biosafety.

Recently, the sale price of livestock product has been stable, especially higher for poultry, helping encourage the farmers to produce and raise the income.
