(BGO) – On authorization of Japanese competent organization, the Department of Plant Protection (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development) has recognized five more longan cultivation areas in Bac Giang province that are qualified to be granted with growing area codes (GAC) to export to Japan with total area of over 53.2 hectares.
Accordingly, the Department of Plant Protection granted five longan GAC to Luc Son communal Agriculture Service Cooperative in Luc Nam district (10 hectares); two longan production teams for export in Deo Quat village, Luc Son commune (21.36 hectares); two longan production teams for export in Dong Lan village, Dong Ky commune, Yen The district (21.91 hectares).

The Department of Plant Protection assigned the Division of Plant Production and Protection (Department of Agriculture and Rural Development) to instruct and supervise representative of each GAC so as to inform to all participating households to know and use the GAC while the plant quarantine agencies only inspect good batches from the growing areas and packing facilities with granted codes approved by Japanese side.
Previously, the province was granted with 43 longan GAC to export to China, 5 GAC to Australia and 4 to the US on total area of over 500 hectares.
Thus, the province now has 293 GAC for lychee, longan, pomelo, star apple fruit which are qualified to export to China, Thailand, the US, Russia, Australia, Republic of Korea and EU, including 103 GAC for lychee, 20 for pomelo, 5 for longan and one for star apple fruit.
