(BGO) – Bac Giang province targets an average export growth rate of 13-15% per year in the 2021-2030 period, according to its Import-Export Strategy to 2030.
To achieve this goal, the province has come up with many solutions, including promoting all potential and advantages and mobilizing resources to produce and export key agricultural products, with a view to having a sustainable import-export structure and improving competitiveness in the global value chain, thus contributing to economic growth.

Bac Giang has eight groups of key agricultural products approved by the provincial People's Committee, including pig, chicken, fish, rice, lychee, orange, vegetables and peanut. In addition, the province also approved a list of 14 signature products and 30 potential products, such as tea, custard apple, pomelo, rice noodles and longan, with a total output of hundreds of thousands of tons per year.
According to statistics, the export volume of Bac Giang's main agricultural products is increasing. In 2022, more than 100,000 tons of lychees, Chu rice noodles, Yen Dung fragrant rice, canned vegetables and fruits were exported, including 75,500 tons of fresh lychees. Of which, 100 tons were shipped to Japan, EU, and the Republic of Korea, double that of the previous crop.

Along with increased production, Bac Giang lychee has been present in 30 countries and territories, and favored by fastidious markets such as Japan, the US, and the EU. Last year, the province earned 116 million USD from lychee exports and 10 million USD from exporting vegetables, tubers and fruits of all kinds.
Over the past time, the province has issued many policies to materializing the agricultural production development orientation in each period. As a result, the local agricultural sector has resources to effectively implement many projects to develop concentrated fruit tree areas, disease-free animal breeding areas and high-quality rice intensive farming areas; and apply high technology to production.
A number of large enterprises have invested in local agricultural development. For example, Hoa Phat Group has developed a high-tech pig raising area housing 5,000 sows and 18,000 pigs per batch in Long Son commune, Son Dong district. Meanwhile, Dabaco Group has invested in a breeding poultry farm with a capacity of more than 60,000 heads in Yen The district.
The province has zoned off and developed a number of large-scale concentrated commodity production areas, including a 30,000ha lychee area; a 45,000ha high-quality rice area; a 12,600ha area for processing vegetables; 21 pig raising areas; and 33 chicken raising areas. The province has built 205 One Commune One Product (OCOP) products, including some key branded products meeting export demand such as lychee, Chu noodles, longan and processed vegetables.
Ensuring the land fund for the sustainable development of key agricultural products, the province has zoned off concentrated production areas for rice, vegetables, peanut, fruit trees, medicinal plants, flowers, and ornamental trees as well as areas for livestock, fisheries and forestry development.
Simultaneously, the province has also "digitized" the map of these specialized farming areas and assigned the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to coordinate with relevant departments, agencies, and districts and city to implement the plans.
In order for key agricultural products to meet export markets’ requirements, Le Ba Thanh, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, said that the agricultural sector currently bases on product quality requirements of each export market to produce products. Products must ensure standards and meet the demands of each specific country and region.

The Department of Industry and Trade has regularly provided information and forecasts about the commodity markets, especially those with which Vietnam has signed a Free Trade Agreement (FTA), as well as early warnings about trade remedies.
It has established a Zalo group to support import and export activities; appointed staff to directly help enterprises in handling import-export administrative procedures, procedures for certificates of origin, and answer questions about FTAs. It has also regularly exchanged information to grasp the situation and promptly solve difficulties for import-export enterprises; while supporting and promoting digital transformation in import-export activities through cross-border e-commerce.
