At the conference, Vice Chairman of Hung Yen Provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Hung Nam affirmed that the Japanese market is very strict about product standards, especially regarding imported food and fruits.
The successful penetration of the Japanese market will create a great reputation for the agricultural products of Hung Yen Province and have a spillover effect on other international markets.
Currently, Hung Yen province has more than 5000 hectares of longan with an annual output of about 45,000 tonnes. In particular, there are two longan growing areas that have been granted export codes to the Japanese market in Hung Yen City with a total area of more than 27 hectares and an estimated output of 350 tonnes per year.
Hung Yen longan has been consumed in a number of international markets. To expand the export opportunities for longan, Hung Yen Provincial People's Committee has directed the Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to coordinate with the People's Committees of districts, towns and cities to review, evaluate and restructure the varieties and growing areas while boosting the application of science and technology and advanced farming processes in production to improve product quality.
The Provincial People’s Committee has approved a trade promotion scheme for the export of longan and products processed from longan to the Japanese market during the 2021-2025 period, as well as promoted, introduced and connected reputable enterprises and traders conducting the export of vegetables and fruits such as the Hung Yen longan to Japanese consumers.
