Total investment of Vietnamese investors abroad reached nearly US$547 million in the first six months of this year, up nearly 2.5 times over the same period in 2020.
The investment capital included both newly registered and supplemented capital including US$300 million contributed by Vietnamese conglomerate Vingroup in the US.

According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, 24 new projects were licensed in the first half of this year with total registered capital of US$143.8 million while nine projects saw expanded capital of US$403.2 million.
Among the expanded projects, Vingroup poured an additional US$300 million into the US market, Indochina Rubber Investment and Development Company increased its investment in Cambodia by US$76 million, and Vinfast supplemented the German market with US$32 million, among others.
Vietnamese investor invested in 12 areas, with largest investment in science and technology at US$270.8 million, accounting for 49.5% of total investment abroad. Wholesale and retail sales came in second with investment of US$148.6 million, accounting for 27.2% of the total.
Fifteen countries and territories received investment from Vietnam in the first six months of this year with largest investment in the US, Cambodia, Canada, France and others.
Vietnam has so far participated in 1,420 valid projects abroad with total investment capital of over US$21.8 billion.
