Photo “Story about Buddhist Emperor” awarded first prize at “7 days to discover sacred land of Tay Yen Tu” photo contest

(BGO) – A ceremony was held on March 15 by the Organization Board of the Spring Festival and first Culture-Tourism Week in the northern province of Bac Giang at the provincial Conventional Center to award the prizes for the photo contest of “7 days to discover the sacred land of Tay Yen Tu”.

The event was attended by Nguyen Van Linh, Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee (PPC), Le Anh Duong, PPC Vice Chairman and Head of the Organization Board; representatives of several departments, sectors, localities; members of the Organization Board, Jury Board; photographers of excellent works among others.

PPC Chairman Nguyen Van Linh and representative of Tay Yen Tu Service Joint Stock Company present the first prize to Nguyen Thanh Son. 

The Culture-Tourism Week and Tay Yen Tu Spring Festival 2019 are the special cultural events held by the provincial People’s Committee from February 14 – 20 2019 (lunar January 10 – 16, the Year of the Pig).

Within the events’ frame, Bac Giang Newspaper coordinated with the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Association and Literature and Art to launch the photo contest of “7 days to discover the sacred land of Tay Yen Tu”.

The photo “Story about Buddhist Emperor” of photographer Nguyen Thanh Son (Yen Dung district) wins first prize at the contest. 

382 photos were submitted to the contest lasting for 7 days by 76 professional and amateur photographers in and outside the province, 72 of which were published in the online Bac Giang Newspaper.

After the verification and evaluation, the Organization Board presented one first prize worth 5 million VND (over 215 USD), two second prizes each worth 3 million VND (129 USD), three third prizes each worth 2 million VND, 10 consolidation prizes each worth 1 million VND. The total prize was valued at 27 million VND (over 1,164 USD).

Additionally, Tay Yen Tu Service Joint Stock Company presented a cash reward to each prize winner that was equivalent to the prize’s amount under the contest.

PPC Vice Chairman Le Anh Duong and Trinh Van Anh, Editor in Chief of Bac Giang News Paper, Head of the Organization Board for the photo contest of “7 days to discover the sacred land of Tay Yen Tu” award the second prizes to the winners.

Concretely, the first prize was awarded to Nguyen Thanh Son (Yen Dung district) with the photo “Story about the Buddhist Emperor”; two second prize winners were Nguyen The Dung, the provincial Press Association with the photo “Buddhism wall” and Phan Vinh Hung, former reporter at Photo Division in Vietnam News Agency with the photo “The Journey to Tay Yen Tu”.

Besides, three third prizes were presented to Tran Thanh Dat, Photo Division in Vietnam News Agency with the photo “The statue procession to Thuong pagoda”; Dinh Huu Trinh in Tang Tien commune (Viet Yen district) with the photo “Cao Lan ethnic people make glutinous rice cake” and Ngo Thanh Hai in Bac Giang Newspaper with the photo “Indian Poet Bengt Berg prints woodblocks at Vietnam Poetry Day”…

 

Cultural space of Tay Yen Tu to be highlighted
(BGO) - The Tay Yen Tu (Western Yen Tu) Spring Festival and the Culture-Tourism Week 2019 will take place in the next few days. This will be the first time Bac Giang province organizes the Culture-Tourism Week. Therefore, Bac Giang city, districts, departments and agencies concerned are actively preparing for the opening ceremony.

Tay Yen Tu cable car inaugurated on second day of Lunar New Year
(BGO) – On the occasion of the Launching ceremony of Spring festival and Tay Yen Tu Culture-Tourism Week 2019, Tay Yen Tu Joint Stock Company planned to inaugurate the cable car system from Ha (Lower) pagoda in Tuan Mau commune, Son Dong district (Bac Giang province) to the peak of Yen Tu mountain (about 700 meters away from Dong pagoda) on February 6 (second day of the Lunar New Year).
