Project to promote development of experimental music

The experimental music project, entitled “Shapes of music”, will officially be launched by the Dom Dom (Firefly) Experimental Music and Arts Centre on March 1.

Under the project, young artists will be provided with a budget as well as spaces and an environment to create new contemporary and experimental music compositions.

The experimental music project "Shapes of music" will be launched on March 1.

Themed “Connecting heritages”, the project will support four or five young musicians and groups of artists to approach and learn about the traditional forms of arts such as Tuong (classical drama), Cheo (traditional opera), Cai luong (reformed theatre), Ca tru (ceremonial singing) and Chau van (spiritual singing).

The project will receive the support and accompaniment of many famous musicians and artists.

The project will be implemented from April to October and the new compositions will be introduced in Hanoi. The most outstanding works are expected to be performed at the 2021 Hanoi New Music Festival.

The Dom Dom Experimental Music and Arts Centre is a non-profit organisation which was formed by musician Tran Kim Ngoc, aiming to support and encourage activities to develop contemporary and experimental music as well as to connect with other art forms.

300 artists join provincial music festival for older people
(BGO) - The sixth Music Festival for the Older People in the northern province of Bac Giang was held on May 22, 2019 at the provincial Center of Culture and Sports for the Elderly by a joint collaboration between the provincial Association for the Elderly and Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

Nguyen Thi Huyen Trang grows from music contests
(BGO) - In 2018, Nguyen Thi Huyen Trang, a student of the Faculty of vocal music, Vietnam National Academy of Music (VNAM) received a lot of good news when she won the First runner-up title at the VNAM’s Talent and Beauty Contest and the Silver medal at the 6th Asian Arts Festival held in Singapore. The student born in 1997 at Dai Lam commune, Lang Giang district, Bac Giang province used to be a student of Phuong Son senior high school, Luc Nam district.
