The event is set to draw the participation of dragon dancers from 13 districts from across the capital, including Ba Dinh, Hoang Mai, Tay Ho, Hoan Kiem, Long Bien, Cau Giay, Nam Tu Liem, Phuc Tho, Dong Anh and Thuong Tin.

Each participating unit will deliver a performance for five to seven minutes, using one or more dragon models combined with music and commentary in the background, in order to recreate the nation’s glorious traditional historical events and praise the country and people of Vietnam and the thousand-year-old capital – the City for Peace.

At this year’s event, there are no limits for dragon dance shows in terms of performance techniques, with delegations being free to use any complicated and eye-catching skills they wish, such as puzzle and acrobatics.

The organising committee will present the first, second, third and consolation prizes to the best performers, alongside some prizes for the most well-decorated dragon and the most creative dance.

The dragon dance festival is a cultural and artistic event with profound social significance, creating a joyful and exciting atmosphere in the cultural and spiritual life of the capital’s people, and introducing domestic and international tourists to one of Hanoi’s unique art forms imbued with folk colours.
