(BGO) - The final round of the 8th “Thuong River Singing Contest in 2020” was launched on September 27 evening by the People’s Committee in Bac Giang city (Bac Giang province) at the municipal hall.
Addressing to open the event, Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Huu Dinh, Head of the Organization Board expressed on the meaningful music programme via 8 seasons since 2013, helping introduce and promote the tradition, history, culture and general socio-economic achievements in Bac Giang province in general and Bac Giang city in particular to numerous audiences across the nation.

At the same time, the contest offered the platform to search for and accompany the music talents nationwide. This year event drew nearly 100 candidates from 26 provinces and cities across the country, many of whom are students at the professional art institutes.
After the preliminary round, the Jury Board selected 12 best candidates representing for 3 genres of folk, chamber and light music to the final round. At the final round, each candidate performed a song about Bac Giang city in the morning while the candidates sang the selected song at the gala night.

At the chamber music, Le Hoa Kien from Vinh Phuc province performed the song “Tam ao chien si me va nam xua” of late musician Nguyen Van Ty, Pham Thi Minh Hong (Hanoi) proved her strong voice via the song “Moi buoc ta di them yeu To quoc” of musician Tan Huyen while “Ban bien tau Mayila” was introduced by the beauty voice of Pham Thi Lan Quynh from Hung Yen province…
At the folk music, candidate Nguyen Xuan Tien (Hanoi) showed his sonorous and emotional voice in the melody of “Vong quoc” of Huynh Tu; Nguyen Thi Thuy Hien (Yen Bai province) performed the song “Linh thieng chua Bo Da” of musician Xuan Oanh…

The light music was excited with the competition of 5 candidates including Nguyen Duc Thanh (Hai Duong province) with the song “Tan thoi” written by musician Huynh Hien Nang; female soldier singer from Tuyen Quang province Hoang Thao Nhi with the song “Va ta da thay mat troi” of musician Nguyen Cuong; Chu Duc Tung in Hanoi sang “Phieu dieu Son Dong” of Nguyen Cuong…
The competitions were warmly applauded by the audiences. At the gala night, the Bac Giang music lovers also enjoyed the performances from the popular guest singers who won first and second prizes at previous seasons.

According to the Jury Board, this year event welcomed many good and strong voices who are trained at the art establishments and help build up the quality of the final round. The candidates performed the delicate songs confidently and emotionally.
The Organization Board awarded 3 first, 3 second, 3 third and 3 consolidation prizes to the candidates. The first prize winners were Pham Thi Lan Quynh at chamber music, Nguyen Xuan Tien at folk music and Nguyen Minh Ngoc at light music. Meanwhile, Nguyen Thi Minh Ngoc was presented award of best performance about Bac Giang.
