Vietnamese photographer joins 2022 World Press Photo Contest jury

The World Press Photo Contest has included Pham Ha Duy Linh, a photojournalist based in Hanoi, as one of its judges this year.

He will become one of five jurists to judge entries from Southeast Asia and Oceania at the 2022 World Press Photo Awards.

Linh, who often goes by Linh Pham, is a photojournalist with many years of experience working at home and abroad. He is currently collaborating with Getty Images.

Starting in 2012, Linh has worked on issues like the extinction of giant catfish in the Mekong Delta region, transcontinental human trafficking, and disputes on the East Sea, known internationally as the South China Sea.

World Press Photo wrote on its website that "Linh’s personal work often returns to document the avant-garde aspects of the issues that has a link to the past in Vietnam where his roots are planted."

His works have been published in National Geographic, New York Times and Washington Post, among others.

He is also known for his activities to promote the development of the photography community in Vietnam.

In 2016, he co-founded Matca - an online magazine, publication and exhibition space with the goal of expanding discussions about contemporary photography.

In 2019, he was named one of the talents from Southeast Asia and Oceania by World Press Photo.
