“People’s artisan” and “Meritorious artisan” titles rewarded

(BGO)- The provincial People’s Committee of Bac Giang province on April 26 solemnly organised the 3rd ceremony rewarding the “People’s artisan” and “Meritorious artisan” titles in the field of intangible cultural heritage.

Bac Giang and other localities have Quan ho folk songs, Ca tru (ceremonial singing), practices related to the Viet beliefs in the Mother Goddesses of Three Realms and Then practice nominated by UNESCO. Besides, Bac Giang has 15 national intangible heritages, traditional festivals, many traditional handicrafts and folk games, which are in good conservation and promotion.

Permanent Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Mai Son and Deputy Director General of the Departmen of Cultural Heritage Nong Quoc Thanh award People’s artisan and Meritorious artisan titles to the individuals.

In the 3rd rewarding event of People’s artisan and Meritorious artisan titles (the State President issued the Decision to reward the titles in September 2022), 15 artisans in Bac Giang province were awarded including 3 People’s artisans and 12 Meritorious artisans. These are outstanding individuals representing thousands of artisans in the province who have made great dedication to the cause of preserving and promoting values of the intangible cultural heritages.

On behalf of the provincial Party Committee, government and people of all ethnic groups, permanent Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Mai Son expressed his gratitude for the attention and precious, effective support of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, organizations, individuals, artisans and people in preserving and promoting values of the cultural heritages of Bac Giang province.

Folling the viewpoint “culture embodies the identity of the nation; so long as culture remains, so will the nation”, the Party Committee, government and people of Bac Giang province will continue making joint efforts to construct a prosperous Bac Giang province, which will ceaselessly develop and absorb current cultural quintessence while preserving the national identity so that Bac Giang culture can spread and last forever with the nation.

At the event, the organizing board announced the decisions to reward People’s artisan and Meritorious artisan titles in the filed of intangible cultural heritages for the 3rd time.

Festival introduces 15 UNESCO-recognised intangible cultural heritages

Artisans from 13 cities and provinces nationwide, will perform 15 UNESCO-recognised cultural heritage genres to the public, during a festival which will take place in Viet Tri City, Phu Tho province, from April 21 to 24.

Folk singing festival of Luc Ngan’s ethnic groups proposed to be intangible cultural heritage

(BGO) – The Department of Science and Technology has had a working session and surveyed condition to propose science and technology task at the provincial level. It aimed to make proposal to recognize the Folk singing festival of Luc Ngan’s ethnic groups as intangible cultural heritage starting from 2024.

 

Developing cultural industries from heritage resources

Hanoi has set the target that by 2025, the cultural industry will contribute 5% of the city's GRDP. With the advantage of relics, heritage and craft villages, Hanoi will focus on exploiting heritage values to develop cultural industries.
