Vietnamese box office has posted revenues VND1.08 trillion (around $46 million) in nearly six months of this year, triple than that of the same period last year.
This is the first time the Vietnamese box office achieved the milestone, according to the independent analysis unit Box Office Vietnam.
Although only eight domestic movies were released in the first half of the year, they accounted for over half of the recorded revenue.

Nguyen Khanh Duong, founder of Box Office Vietnam, says domestic audiences are more interested in domestic movies compared to foreign counterparts. There have not been any foreign films that surpassed VND100 billion in revenue this year.
The record-breaking number was achieved largely thanks to two domestic movies of "Nha Ba Nu" (The House of No Man) and "Lat Mat 6" (Face Off 6).
One month after its release in January, "Nha Ba Nu" achieved VND458 billion in revenue and five million viewers, making it the most-watched movie of all time in Vietnam.
Director Charlie Nguyen adds that the success of "Nha Ba Nu" shows that the family drama is still a genre favored by many audiences in Vietnam.
