(BGO) – Promoting solidarity tradition, great effort to overcome difficulties, flexible and drastical leadership from the Party and authority at all levels, high consensus and determination from the people at all stratas and business community, the northern province of Bac Giang has succeeded in various fields as the bright spot of the nation in economic development.
Bac Giang Newspaper would like to highlight 10 outstanding events and achievements in 2022.
1. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attended programme to meet and speak with labourers across the nation under the theme “Vietnamese workers inspire to develop the country” launched by Vietnam General Confederation of Labour on June 12 in Bac Giang city.

At the same day, the PM worked with the Standing Board of the provincial Party Committee about the implementation of the 8th Party Congress’s Resolution and the 19th provincial Party Congress’s Resolution; socio-economic development in 2021 and early months of 2022 together with the orientation and task in the upcoming time.

2. On July 13, the working delegation led by Vo Van Thuong, Member of the Poliburo, Permanent member of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat worked with the Standing Board of provincial People’s Committee about the implementation of the Party Congress’s Resolution at all levels. He highly spoke of Bac Giang’s renovation in leading and directing as the bright spot to recover and develop the socio-economy with many criteria in top leading group amid several difficulties caused by Covid-19 pandemic.

3. The Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) was estimated at highest ever rate of 19.3 percent, helping the province rank second nationwide. The GRDP scaled up to some 156 trillion VND (6.65 billion USD) and rank 13 out of 63 provinces and cities, surpassing the target till 2025 set at the Resolution at the 19th provincial Party Congress.

4. The investment and business environment was further improved. In 2022, the province attracted total investment of over 1.3 billion USD, up 17 percent year on year. Particularly, Bac Giang rank nine nationwide in foreign direct investment (FDI) attraction. The FDI projects focused in electronic manufacturing and production, garment and textile, logistics among others.

5. Many traffic projects were done to build bridge and road to connect to provinces and cities across the nation such as Dong Viet bridge in Yen Dung district, expansion of Nhu Nguyet bridge, Ha Bac No.2 bridge to link the branch No.2 of the belt road No.4 (provincial road No.398) to Yen Phong industrial park and national road No.18 (Bac Ninh province)…with total investment of trillions VND.

6. The provincial People’s Committee first ever honored 10 meritorious citizens in Bac Giang who had excellent achievements in various fields. This will become annual event from next year.

7. The province successful host badminton game at the 31st Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 31) and 3 games of rod pushing, traditional wrestling and tug of war at National Sports Games. Bac Giang athletes won big at both events and greatly contributed to the high achievement sport in the province and nation.

8. According to the annoucement of Ministry of Information and Communication about the digital transformation index of the provinces and cities in 2021, Bac Giang province rank 10 out of 63 localities as the second consecutive year.

9. In academic year 2022 – 2023, Bac Giang students won 66 prizes and 8 out of 63 position provinces and cities nationwide in the number of national prizes awarded to excellent students. It has been the year with highest achievement since the provincial re-establishment.

10. The foreign affairs were reinforced. From November 27 – 29, Member of the Central Party Committee, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, Head of the provincial National Assembly Delegation Duong Van Thai led a working delegation to pay a working visit to Xaysomboun province of Laos to further specify the cooperative agreement between two provinces inked in August 2021.

Previously, Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Le Anh Duong attended the working delegation of President Nguyen Xuan Phuc on his official visit to Singapore. Within the event, he signed cooperative agreements with many businesses and partners.

Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Phan The Tuan entouraged PM Pham Minh Chinh and high-ranking Vietnamese delegation to visit the US. In the working trip, Vice Chairman inked memorandum of understanding with Vietnam Airlines and the Vietnamese Entrepreneurs Network in the United States of America about cooperation to export lychee and other farm produce to the US.
