The aim of the event was to celebrate 72 years of the August Revolution (August 19) and the National Day (September 2), 72 years of the traditional day of the Vietnam People’s Public Security Force, 88 years since the establishment of the Vietnam Trade Union, and all-level trade union congresses.

Addressing the meeting, the Vice President briefed the delegates on the national socio-economic situation over the past few years, whilst recognising and praising the significant contributions of the public security and army forces to the country’s general development, including the efforts and sacrifices made by the good labourers who have set outstanding examples.

She encouraged all-level trade unions in the armed forces, as well as their members, to continue promoting the good labour emulation movements in their respective sectors, upholding comradeship and building united collectives, towards obtaining further significant achievements and contributing to constructing the revolutionary, formal, elite and modern people’s public security and army forces.

Thinh also asked the armed forces’ trade union members to build on their attained achievements, in combination with campaigns, including the campaign of studying and following President Ho Chi Minh’s thoughts, morality and lifestyle, with the utmost determination and discipline.

On behalf of the 60 outstanding trade union members, Lieut. Gen. Nguyen Xuan Muoi, Deputy Director of the People’s Public Security Force’s General Department of Politics, thanked the Party and State leaders, as well as Vice President Thinh herself, for constantly caring for the People’s Public Security and People’s Army Forces.

The sentiments from the leaders are a source of special honour and encouragement to each outstanding delegate in the “Good Labour” emulation movement, as well as to the trade union organisations in the People’s Public Security and People’s Army Forces, and to the whole armed forces in the cause of building and defending a socialist Vietnam, he stated.

At the meeting, Vice President Thinh presented portraits of President Ho Chi Minh to the participating delegates.

Earlier the same day, the delegation, led by Lieut. Gen. Nguyen Xuan Muoi, offered incense and laid a wreath at the Monument to Heroes and Martyrs on Bac Son Road in Hanoi, whilst reporting their feats and paying tribute to President Ho Chi Minh at his mausoleum.
