(BGO) - Responding to the movement "The army joins efforts to build new-style rural areas" launched by the Ministry of National Defense, officers and soldiers of the armed forces in Lang Giang district, Bac Giang province have coordinated with military units to carry out many specific and practical jobs, contributing to helping localities fulfill their new-style rural area building targets in 2019.
Specific and practical deeds
Implementing the National Target Programme on new-style rural area building, Duong Duc commune (Lang Giang) has faced many difficulties in completing criteria on roads, environment, irrigation and cultural institutions.

With a determination to fulfill the goals in 2019, the communal Party committee, authorities and people have urgently engaged in the movement. Together with the active support from the Military Command of Lang Giang district and officers and soldiers of Division 3 (Military Region 1) and Corps 2, the locality has accomplished many criteria.
In the recent 2 years, in July and December, hundreds of officers and soldiers of military units have come to Duong Duc commune to help locals with new-style rural area building. Typically, in Thuong village, during 2018-2019, soliders, militia and people expanded more than 700m of intra-field roads.
Along with building roads, soldiers also opened and dredged nearly 10km of canals and devoted hundreds of workdays to help policy beneficiary families clean up hill gardens and renovate martyrs cemeteries.
At the Tan Thanh Secondary School, in July 2019, when moving the teaching equipment from the old school building to the new one, the teachers faced difficulties due to heavy tables, chairs and cabinets, especially those in the lab.

Teacher Vu Thanh Phuong, Principal of the school, shared that “Some iron cabinets in the lab weigh more than 400kg and are bulky. With support from officers from the communal Military Board and Division 3’s soldiers, everything took place favorably. ” The soldiers also leveled dozens of cubic meters of land to expand and concretise the school yard.

Strictly following criteria
Besides supporting communes and townships in performing their tasks based on local needs, the district Military Command has also paid due attention to the implementation of criterion No. 19 on national defense and security in the set of new-style rural commune criteria and criterion No. 8 on security and social order in the set of new-style rural district criteria.

In early 2019, when the African swine fever outbreak broke out, the district Military Command directed units to send the militia force to directly transport and cull thousands of infected pigs, and at the same time set up quarantine checkpoints and sprayed disinfectant lime powder. The militia force played a key role in preventing and combating the African swine fever, and was appreciated by the local Party Committees and authorities.
