(BGO) - The provincial People’s Committee (PPC) of Bac Giang province held the monthly meeting on April 21 chaired by PPC Chairman Duong Van Thai.
Investment attraction and business development see dramatic increase
According to the report at the meeting, despite difficulties due to Covid-19 pandemic, the province still gained significant results in several fields in April and the first 4 months 2020.

However, continuously complicated developments of Covid-19 pandemic have made adverse impacts on almost production and business sectors and people’s living as well.
Industrial production and services face numerous difficulties. The industrial production value in April is estimated at 14.375 trillion VND (613 million USD), down 16.8 percent against the previous month and 12 percent compared to April 2019. The number of dissolved and suspended enterprises and the rate of bad debts tend to increase. Budget revnues especially from land use dramatically decreased.
Carrying out the “double” duty
According to Pham Van Thinh, Director of the Department of Taxation in Bac Giang province, this agency has grasp situation of the enterprises to support them in the forms of tax breaks and delayed tax payments.
The agricultural sector is directing implementation of the plan to grow the spring crop and care for plants, said Duong Thanh Tung, Director of the provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development. Besides, prevention of livestock and poultry diseases has been strengthened. Currently, the competent agencies are guiding farmers to care for lychee under VietGAP and GlobalGAP standards to improve the product quality.

Regarding the market situation, Tran Quang Tan, Director of the Department of Industry and Trade said export of farm produce through the bordergates with China faces obstacles. Hence, the department has regularly collaborated with the agricultural sector to grasp the production situation to make proper plan on lychee consumption promotion.
The meeting also discussed allowing students to come back school in coming time. According to Tran Tuan Nam, Director of the Department of Education and Training, although a number of schools have implemented online teaching, many students in mountainous areas could not access to this learning method.
The Department of Education and Training intends to allow students from primary level to return school from May 4 while pre-school students continue staying at home. The department shall direct the units to implement preventive measures to ensure students’ safety when going to school.
In his conclusion, PPC Chairman Duong Van Thai stressed enterprises have encountered numerous difficulties due to Covid-19 pandemic. The province has implemented many drastic measures to fight the pandemic. He praised the pandemic fight of the authorities, sectors and localities especially the medical, military and public security forces.
He thanked the people, organizations and individuals for their joint efforts, consensus and donation in the pandemic fight. Thus, Bac Giang was delighted to be classified among low-risk localities for Covid-19.
The pandemic prevention and control will move to the new stage since April 23; hence, the province needs to fight the pandemic in line with socio-economic development. Fighting Covid-19 must be attached importance by the levels and sectors, not to become complacent.

It is necessary to timely implement supporting policies for people and enterprises affected by the pandemic. It needs to boost land clearance of the industrial clusters to welcome new investment waves when the pandemic is in good control.
The PPC Chairman agreed to establish the Steering Committee for Covid-19 Response leaded by the Department of Planning and Investment.
He urged to accelerate making the province’s master plan in 2021-2030 period with a vision to 2050. It is essential to pay due attention to developing less-impacted sectors.
The Department of Industry and Trade was required to work with the Domestic Markets Department, Ministry of Industry and Trade to explore domestic market and set up lychee consumption scenarios not to be dependent.
