(BGO) – Despite a geographical distance of about 800km, Bac Giang province and Xaysomboun province of Laos have become close after the two provinces' governments signed a cooperation agreement, contributing to fostering the Vietnam-Laos relations in general.
Paying special attention to Xaysomboun province
The two localities have actively implemented the contents under the agreement. The Bac Giang provincial People's Committee sent a delegation to survey and work in Xaysomboun province.

From the working trip, the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and the People's Committee of Bac Giang province directed the specialized agencies to develop plans to support the Lao province in accordance with Bac Giang’s ability and conditions as well as the practical needs of Xaysomboun province.
Xaysomboun is the first foreign province Bac Giang has established bilateral cooperation with. Despite still facing difficulties, especially those derived from the Covid-19 epidemic, Bac Giang has given the Lao province special attention and support. It committed to help Xaysomboun build infrastructure and realize the goals of agricultural development, education, health, culture - sports and tourism.

Specifically, Bac Giang has helped Xaysomboun build Nam Mang irrigation work to promote agricultural development; sent experts to transfer scientific and technological advances, build cultivation and husbandry models, and develop new-style rural areas and OCOP products. It has also sent teachers to teach Vietnamese for students, while supporting the training of officials in economic and land management, crop cultivation and animal husbandry.
The two sides have organized people-to-people and cultural exchanges, and visits to old battlefields for former Bac Giang experts and volunteers who helped Laos in different periods, entrepreneurs and traders. At the same time, they have also enhanced cooperation in investment, trade and promotion of their specialty products...
Lifting relationship to new height

The closeness, sincerity and cooperation were also reflected during a working visit to Bac Giang by a high-ranking delegation from Xaysomboun province led by Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Governor Phoikham Houngbounyuang in late May.
During this visit, the leaders of the two provinces discussed in details the implementation of the cooperation agreement. Accordingly, they will coordinate in building the Bac Giang - Xaysomboun Friendship Park. Bac Giang will support the construction of Nam Mang irrigation work to promote agricultural development in the Lao province. Twinning ties between the police agencies and women’s unions of the two provinces were also set up.
After visiting the provincial Public Administration Service Center, Van Trung Industrial Park, Bac Giang Agriculture and Forestry University, Son Dong and Luc Ngan districts, Phoikham Houngbounyuang said he was very impressed with the socio-economic development of Bac Giang province.
In particular, visiting a number of agricultural processing enterprises in Luc Ngan district, enjoying red lychees here, passing through the orange hills, and contemplating modern houses interspersed with orchards, Secretary of the Xaysomboun Party Committee realized that Anuvong district of his province shares many similarities in terms of natural conditions and soil with Luc Ngan district.

It is expected that in November, a delegation from Bac Giang province will pay a working visit to Xaysomboun province in order to speed up the implementation of cooperation agreements, contributing to tightening the relations between the two localities.
