(BGO)- Overcoming difficulties caused by Covid-19 pandemic in 2022, the Department of Foreign Affairs of Bac Giang province (DOFA) has carried out a number of activities to bring Bac Giang closer to international friends, thereby enhancing the province’s position, image, prestige and potentials and making dramatic contributions to socio-economic development, expanding cooperative partnership and boosting international integration of the province.
In recent years, Bac Giang province has fostered cooperation with foreign countries and investment attraction in the context of integration and development. The provincial leaders welcomed 10 foreign delegations to visit and work in the province in 2022.

Particularly, the delegation of Netherland and Pondera visited the province to discuss cooperation for development of clean and renewable energy. The delegations of Singapore Business Federation and Swiss Entrepreneur Fact Finding Mission came to seek investment opportunities in industrial sector.
In implementing the Scheme on fostering local-level international cooperation between Bac Giang province and foreign localities in the period from 2021 to 2025, DOFA has taken initiative in advising the provincial leaders to maintain and consolidate the established relations with foreign localities while promoting to establish cooperative ties with new localities.

To date, Bac Giang province has signed one local-level cooperation agreement with the government of Xaisomboun province (Laos). Besides, the municipal people’s committee of Bac Giang city has implemented the cooperation agreement with Taizhou city, Jiangsu province (China), Letter of Intent with Seogu district, Deajeon city (Republic of Korea) and Nanning city, Guangxi province (China). Luc Ngan district signed memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Anouvong district, the Department of Public Security and the Women’s Union of Bac Giang province inked MOU with the Public Security and Women’s Union of Xaisomboun province.
In addition, the province has organized the meetings with foreign agencies and organizations, particularly the meeting with Chinese Embassy on lychee consumption, the conference with Vietnamese Embassy and Consulates General in the US and US enterprises to seek the demand and orientation for cooperation between Bac Giang province and the US partners and the conference on promoting consumption of lychee, key and signature products of Bac Giang province.
With an aim to promote Bac Giang’s culture and image worldwide, deepen the local traditional values and create more opportunities for cooperation and favourable conditions for economic development, DOFA has advised to combine the cultural promotion in the meetings, visits and working agendas of the provincial leaders with the embassies, international organizations and delegations. The Department also issued the Plan on “organizing some diplomatic events of Bac Giang province in 2022-2030 period”, in which cultural external activities will be included in all diplomatic events such as “Meet foreign ambassadors”, cultural and sports exchanges with foreign enterprises and foreigners in the province, inviting diplomatic missions to visit Bac Giang and international fruit festival.

Specially, the province hosted and successfully organized badminton even at the 31st Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 31) with participation of 8 sports delegations from the countries in ASEAN bloc. This event was an opportunity for the province to promote its beautiful landscapes, historic and cultural relics, which left deep and fine impression on domestic and foreign friends.
Besides, DOFA has well implemented external information work to promote the province’s image and connect to foreigner community in Bac Giang.
Diplomatic activities have made effective and positive contributions to the socio-economic development of the province in recent years, which also contributed to accelerating the province’s international integration.
On the occasion of the New Year of the Cat 2023, the officials and staff of Bac Giang DOFA respectfully expressed their thanks and best wishes to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the provincial Party Committee, People’s Council, People’s Committee, departments, agencies and localities in the province, diplomatic missions, international organizations and foreign enterprises.
