The committee hopes to raise enough funds to prepare 40,000-45,000 gift packages worth 300,000 VND (13.2 USD) apiece for the poor.
To that end, local VFF committees are stepping up communication activities to encourage officials, Party members, civil servants, employees in agencies and businesses, members of local armed forces, and benefactors to support deprived people.
While each people is asked to donate at least one day of salary or income, families which do business activities should support 50,000 VND or higher.
The provincial VFF Committee and agencies at all levels are making the list of beneficiaries and working out plans so as to deliver gifts before the Lunar New Year, which falls on late January.
Localities and organisations in Bac Giang have actively responded to this programme. Over the past month, the Fund for the Poor of Hiep Hoa district has received over 274 million VND (12,000 USD) from 112 agencies, schools, businesses, organisations and individuals.
The women’s union branch of Gieng hamlet in Song Van commune, Tan Yen district, recently presented 9.5 million VND (419 USD) to Ta Thi Dung, a deprived resident in the hamlet who is not in good health but has to raise a grandson with cirrhosis by herself.
The provincial VFF Committee hopes domestic and foreign organisations and people will support this programme so that local poor people can enjoy a happy Tet.
