(BGO) – The Voluntary Blood Donation (VBD) Festival was launched on February 16 by the Steering Board for VBD in the northern province of Bac Giang at the Building B of the provincial Inter-Agency Headquater.
It was among the activities to respond to the appeal from the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion to add the source of blood and reduce the blood shortage which is occurring across the nation due to the complicated situation of acute respiratory disease caused by the Covid-19.

With the motto “Sharing red blood – No fear of corona”, the festival attracted the participation from nearly 200 officers, members and residents in Bac Giang city and adjacent districts.

After inspecting and screening, the Organization Board received 110 safe blood units as the standard of the Ministry of Health which were transported to the provincial General Hospital for emergency case and treatment.

On the occasion, the provincial Red Cross Society delivered 4,000 leaflets and medical face masks to communicate and raise the public awareness in Covid – 19 prevention and control.
