(BGO) – The Steering Board for voluntary blood donation (VBD) in Bac Giang province has coordinated with the Red Cross Society at all levels to launch 9 humanity blood donation festivals in response of 2020 Red Spring Festival (launched from December 29).
As the result, more than 4,500 people registered to join the event and donated 3,525 safe blood units, accounting for 100.7 percent of the set target.
The bloods were directly delivered to the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion, Vietnam German Hospital and provincial General Hospital to actively spare the source of blood for the emergency cases and patient treatment.

Several active localities with high results included Tan Yen district (652 units), Bac Giang city (612 units), Luc Ngan district (433 units) and Son Dong (376 units).
This year, the acute respiratory epidemic is developing at the hard time to mobilize the source of spare blood after the Lunar New Year, leading to the serious shortage of blood at the medical facilities and impact on the launching plan of the VBD events in localities and schools.
With the motto “Donating blood on Spring – Multiplying the happiness”, the Red Cross Society (RCS) continues calling for the people of all strata to give the blood from now on till March 15 to add the source of blood for emergency and treatment.
Also, the RCS mobilizes the sponsors to present the face masks and hand wash solution to the volunteers and blood donors at the festival.
