The Luc Ngan district Medical Center is the first district-level unit in the province to successfully implement this technique. After 3 months, the center has conducted surgeries on 30 patients in the district and surrounding areas such as Luc Nam and Son Dong districts of Bac Giang; and Loc Binh district (Lang Son province).

The unit is implementing 20 higher-level techniques, easing the load for higher-level hospitals and creating favorable conditions for people in the area to come for treatment, Typically among those are spine fixing surgery and hemodialysis.

Currently, the province has 5 general hospitals, 9 specialized hospitals, 10 district-level health centers and many clinics that have basically met the medical checkup and treatment needs of the people.

Medical facilities have identified patient satisfaction as a goal and motivation for their survival and development. Over the past time, the health sector has focused on developing synchronous infrastructure, purchasing modern equipment, training specialized personnel and changing ways of serving patients.

At present, the provincial General Hospital is building 3 modern buildings including a 15-storey central building, with 485 beds and synchronous equipment for 30 departments; a specialized 7-storey building (oncology, obstetrics and forensics) and a 5-storey building for the department of infectious diseases, with a total investment of 700 billion VND sourced from the state budget. They are expected to be put into use in 2022.

The Hiep Hoa district Medical Center and the provincial Traditional Medicine Hospital started construction of a 5-storey treatment building. The Medical Centers of Tan Yen and Lang Giang districts and the Rehabilitation Hospital have implemented a project to increase patient beds in 2020.

The health centers of the districts have automatic biochemical, blood, and immunity testing systems. The provincial-level hospitals are equipped with a digital angiography system for vascular intervention, as well as magnetic resonance imaging and computer tomography systems.

Improving the quality of human resources

In parallel with investment in infrastructure and technical equipment, the health sector has focused on improving the quality of human resources. Each year, the province has 30-50 doctors following postgraduate courses in specialized fields and 30 others participating in developing new technologies in leading hospitals.

Promoting strong investment in machinery and equipment together with technical transfer assistance of leading hospitals across the country, many health facilities in the province have independently performed difficult surgeries and made them regular, bringing joy to the sick.

The provincial-level hospitals often receive technological transfers from leading central-level hospitals and then transfer technologies to district-level health centers under the satellite hospital model.

In the period of 2021-2025, the provincial Department of Health is expected to complete and put into use nine investment projects to increase patient beds in hospitals and health centers.

This is the basic condition to promote development of spearhead techniques, with priority given to the fields of obstetrics, oncology, cardiology and surgery. Some units will build specialized technical centers to perform hi-tech techniques such as cardiac surgery, IVF and organ transplantation.

In the long term, the units will actively devise recruitment plans, propose human resources for training, and continue prioritizing the recruitment of excellent resident physicians and sending cadres and doctors to training courses to acquire new techniques.
