Bac Giang prioritizes Covid-19 control, gradually recovers socio-economic activities

(BGO)- The provincial People’s Committee (PPC) of Bac Giang province held an online conference with its 10 districts and city to evaluate the fight against Covid-19 pandemic. Le Anh Duong, PPC Vice Chairman, Deputy Head of the provincial Steering Committee for Covid-19 prevention and control chaired the conference.

Currently, the number of people in concentrated quarantine has sharply decreased to 75. Patients 228 and 240 were discharged from hospital and put in concentrated isolation.

PPC Vice Chairman Le Anh Duong chaired the conference.

The province has spent nearly 208.34 billion VND (8.8 million USD) for the pandemic fight. The provincial Department of Education and Training has mobilized 2.6 billion VND (110,700 USD) to support more than 3,000 teachers and employees in educational sector affected by the pandemic.

Bac Giang city has supported 100 percent of the poor and nearly poor households with 500,000 VND (21 USD) per each, total fund of some 300 million VND (12,800 USD) apart from the Government’s supporting programme.

According to report by the Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, many enterprises have been impacted by the pandemic. More than 600 people lost their jobs, 7,600 labourers were suspended from work and 12,000 labourers were reduced working hours. These cases still face numerous difficulties despite getting support from the Government.

According to PPC Vice Chairman Le Anh Duong in his conclusion, the pandemic situation worldwide is still very serious. The levels, sectors and people should make joint efforts to implement the double duty but still giving top priority to the pandemic fight and gradually recovering and fostering socio-economic development.

PPC Vice Chairman stressed, apart from preventing the epidemic spread from the domestic outbreaks, Bac Giang will face 3 risks of infection including foreign workers permitted to immigrate Bac Giang from 23 April, Chinese traders coming to buy farm produce especially upcoming lychee season and Bac Giang people returning from abroad when the Government gradually opens the borders.

He added, those who come from abroad will be quarantined under medical supervision. The Department of Industry and Trade in collaboration with the departments of Health, Foreign Affairs and the districts growing lychee particularly Luc Ngan need to soon submit the plan on pandemic control for foreign traders especially Chinese people.

The localities were urged to continue reminding people about wearing face masks in public, regularly sterilizing and not gathering to prevent infection while strictly sanctioning violations against the regulations on pandemic prevention and control.

It is necessary to continue supervising health status of people returning from abroad since March 7. The new cases returning the province from April 23 are still under concentrated quarantine and requested to self-monitor their health condition at home for 14 days more.

Those who had returned Bac Giang from Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and virus-hit provinces by April 22 are still required 28-days home quarantine. Those returning Bac Giang since April 23 are not required to be quarantined but they must be supervised by the communes, wards and towns.

People who live in Hanoi but work in Bac Giang will be allowed normal travel since today (April 23) except for those living in Thuong Tin and Me Linh districts. The in- quarantine cases will continue implementation until enough 14 days.

The provincial Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs needs to collaborate with the Foreign Affairs and Health departments and the provincial Industrial Zones Authority to check and consider needs for foreign workers coming to work in Bac Giang periodically not in mass who must be imposed quarantine, declare health condition, be under health supervision and not allowed to stay in the industrial parks.

The districts and city are requested to accelerate supporting citizens and enterprises affected by the pandemic, well prepare for students coming back school, continue testing suspected cases, isolated people and those directly contacted with Covid-19 patients and prevent infection in the medical facilities. Each department, sector and locality need to implement the measures to live safely with the pandemic.

All non-essential businesses have been requested to temporarily close, except for supermarkets, pharmacies, health care services, banks and gas stations.
