New regulations on entry and exit for foreigners to Vietnam

Several new regulations on entry and exit procedures for foreigners to Vietnam have been issued under a new decree signed by the Prime Minister on July 1.

Accordingly, Decree No. 75/2020/NĐ-CP, detailing the Law Amending and Supplementing a Number of Articles of the Law on Entry, Exit, Transit, and Residence of Foreigners in Vietnam, took effect from the day it was signed, starting from this month.

Several new regulations on entry and exit for foreigners to Vietnam have been issued under a new decree signed by the Prime Minister on July 1.

The decree stipulates that foreigners entering Vietnam via border gates at economic zones (EZs) and coastal EZs, who wish to visit other places in the country, are exempt from visas specified in Clause 3, Article 12 of the Law on Entry, Exit, Transit, and Residence of Foreigners in Vietnam, as well as in Clause 7 Article 1 of the Law Amending and Supplementing a Number of Articles under the above-mentioned law .

The newly issued document also provides details on offering visas for foreigners entering Vietnam under international treaties to which Vietnam is a member but do not have a commercial presence or partner in Vietnam.

It also prescribes granting temporary residence certificates to foreigners who enter Vietnam.

Vietnam to halt entry to all foreigners due to COVID-19
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs on March 21 said that the Vietnamese Government has decided to temporarily suspend entry of all foreigners from March 22 due to the complicated developments of the Covid-19 pandemic.
