Patient 674 is the mother of Patient 673. On July 21-24, the two patients traveled to Da Nang with their family members and friends. The group had 21 people, including 10 in Son Dong district, six in Lang Giang district, and five from Lang Son province.
The two tested positive for the novel coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 at 3pm on August 5. Currently they are being treated at the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases No. 2 in Dong Anh (Hanoi).
After the two cases were detected by epidemiological investigation, the provincial Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control focused on directing the zoning and handling of the outbreak, tracing and quarantine related cases to conduct testing and monitor their observance of quarantine regulations. Those travelling together with the two patients have been put under concentrated quarantine and are waiting for testing results.
Continuing to search for people returning from Da Nang, people must wear masks when leaving home
Concluding the conference, Duong emphasized that from August 5, agencies at all levels, sectors, localities and the people must identify that there has already been a coronavirus outbreak in the local community. Bac Giang has entered a new stage that requires high concentration on preventing the pandemic from entering from outside and spreading in the community.

The province has identified four high-risk areas: Son Dong, Luc Ngan, Lang Giang and Bac Giang city. Facing new developments of the disease, the official asked localities to step up measures to prevent the epidemic from outside and zone off affected areas to repel the pandemic effectively from inside.
It is necessary to conduct a final review of people coming and returning from Da Nang and Quang Nam, which must be completed on August 6, while tracing, implementing epidemiological investigation, quarantining, and taking samples of people having close contact with Patients 673, 674 (called F1 and F2) for testing.
The health sector should carry out effective measures to control the pandemic at health facilities, preventing any outbreaks from occurring in hospitals; speed up the sample collection; procure more medical equipment and supplies; and consolidate quarantine facilities.
Duong also asked for close management of people under home quarantine and strict punishment of anyone who violates regulations, while stressing the need to review and prevent people from illegally entering the province. He requested that from August 6, all residents when going out of their homes, on vehicles, and in public places, hospitals, crowded areas, offices, factories, construction sites and schools must wear face masks.
Agencies, units, villages, hamlets, and residential groups were required to strengthen on-spot epidemic prevention measures; limit mass gatherings; halt sports, culture, arts and training activities; as well as encourage all residents to install Bluezone app to prevent and control the pandemic.
For the national high school graduation exam, the Department of Education and Training must coordinate with the Department of Health and district and city authorities to ensure absolute health safety for candidates, officials and teachers participating in the exam; and complete the spraying and sterilization of all exam venues on August 6. They need to quickly review the number of students in Yen Dinh commune attending the exam to propose to the Ministry of Education and Training appropriate plans to ensure their interests.
