Committee for Foreign NGO Affairs inspects project “Samsung Hope School” in Hiep Hoa

(BGO) - The Committee for Foreign Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) Affairs and the Department of Foreign Affairs (DoFA) in Bac Giang province on September 24 paid a field visit to inspect the implementation of the project “Samsung Hope School” at Hiep Hoa district sponsored by Korea Food for the Hungry International (KFHI) and Samsung Electronics Vietnam Company.

The project was approved by the Chairman of the People’s Committee in Bac Giang province (PPC) in the Decision No.906/QD-UBND on May 13, 2020 with 2 components of building “Samsung Hope School” and launching child development programmes. Total implementation cost hits over 19 billion VND (823,500 USD) for two components (the second one will be implemented in 10 years).

Currently, the project has executed the first component. The People’s Committee in Hiep Hoa district (the aid beneficiary) assigned the district Management Board of investment construction project to be the contact point to coordinate with the relevant organization and agencies to prepare the necessary conditions for the project implementation in the area.

Since the commencement date of August 25, 2020, several items of Samsung Hope School have been completed with 15 days ahead the committed schedule.

Regarding the child development programmes, after the construction is done, the People’s Committee in Hiep Hoa district and KFHI will be responsible for managing and launching the second component of children development.

Speaking at the meeting, Head of the People’s Aid Coordinating Committee, Head of the working delegation from the Committee for Foreign Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) Affairs Nguyen Ngoc Hung highly appreciated the coordination of the owner of aid package and the sponsors to implement the project in line with the regulations exceeding the set progress.

Also, he urged the People’s Committee in Hiep Hoa district to further coordinate with the sponsors, provincial DoFA and relevant organization to manage the project and properly follow the contents specified in the PPC’s approval decision. Particularly in the child development programme, they should discuss and finalize to implement the project correctly, effectively toward right subjects and components.

Vice Chairman of the district People’s Committee Nguyen Van Khanh expressed his delight and thanks to the working delegation’s visit. The local authority committed to closely coordinate with the sponsors and relevant agencies in the province to effectively implement the project as schedule and regulation.

Khanh hoped the Committee for Foreign Non-Governmental Organization Affairs and DoFA will pay more attention to coordinating the aids to Hiep Hoa district and contributing to the local socio-economic development.
