Hanoi requires wearing masks in public spaces to prevent virus resurgence

The Hanoi government has mandated that masks be worn on public transport and in public spaces in order to prevent the return of the coronavirus.

People are required to wear face coverings when using public buses, when going to parks, pedestrian streets, squares, railway and bus stations, markets, and commercial centres, as well as when attending public events.

Passengers are required to wear masks on public buses in Hanoi.

Newly elected Mayor Chu Ngoc Anh said the virus has been essentially contained with no community transmission since mid-August, but cautioned that it could re-emerge at any time.

He asked local authorities to absolutely not be complacent and implement all preventive measures in a serious manner.

The capital city also called for proper management of quarantine facilities, especially paid facilities, and people entering Vietnam from abroad.

The municipal health department is required to regularly inspect virus prevention work at hospitals and healthcare centres while enhancing its testing capacity.

As of October 29, Vietnam has entered the 57th day with no cases of local coronavirus transmission. The total number of cases stands at 1,173, with 35 deaths.

In another development, the Vietnam Football Federation has handed over 10,000 real-time PCR test kits donated by the United Arab Emirates Football Association to the Ministry of Health.

A special “ATM” dedicated to offering free face masks has been installed in Hanoi, aimed at offering 45,000 medical masks to the public using smart technology.

The man behind HCMC’s "rice ATMs" has now set up a "face mask ATM" that dispenses around 20,000 free masks a day. 
 
WHO and VMA hand over blood pressure meter and medical face masks to Bac Giang
(BGO) – Dr. Kidong Park, Head Representative of World Health Organization (WHO) to Vietnam and Assoc.Prof.Dr Nguyen Thi Xuyen, Chairwoman of Vietnam Medical Association (VMA) on August 6 visited and presented blood pressure meter and medical face masks to Bac Giang province.
