Many foreign workers stay back Bac Giang for Tet

(BGO)- Ahead the coming Lunar New Year (or Tet), the demand to return home of overseas Vietnamese and foreigners in Bac Giang is predicted to increase. Facing complicated developments of Covid-19 pandemic, the competent agencies have provided many solutions for the pandemic prevention and control.

Currently, there are 6,100 foreign labourers working for enterprises in the industrial parks in northern province of Bac Giang including nearly 70 percent of Chinese labourers. Like Vietnamese people, Tet is also an opportunity for Chinese to reunite with their family and relatives, thus many workers planned to return their home country for Tet.

According to Nguyen Xuan Ngoc, Deputy Head of the provincial Industrial Zones Authority (IZA), orders of majority of foreign direct investment (FDI) enterprises have been signed by the end of August 2021. Moreover, amid complicated developments of Covid-19 pandemic in many countries, a number of enterprises encouraged their employees especially experts to stay back Bac Giang for Tet while providing them with incentive policies.

While only 10 percent of foreign labourers working in the industrial parks stayed in Bac Giang for Tet last year, the number jumps to 60 percent this year.

IZA also popularizes Vietnam’s policies and regulations on the pandemic prevention and control, handles procedures related to foreign labourers to come back to work in Bac Giang after returning home for Tet and encourages labourers to “stay at where they are staying”.
