Social and unemployment insurances support labour

(BGO) -  To remove the difficulties caused by Covid-19 epidemic, the Social Insurance in Bac Giang province has coordinated with relevant departments and sectors to quickly support to handle the policies of social insurance and unemployment insurance for business and labour.

Timely assistance

The prolonged disease outbreak of nearly two year caused negative impacts on production and business activities in many enterprises. Some companies with marginal operation must allow employees to stop working temporarily or terminate the contract because they failed to export product and import materials. In such hard period, the policy of unemployment insurance partly helps labour stabilize the living.

Labour is instructed to full fill the procedure to enjoy unemployment allowance at the provincial Job Service Center.

Since early July, after the pandemic was gradually put in control in the province, many people have come to apply for unemployment allowance policy at the provincial Job Service Center (JSC).

According to Nguyen Van Huyen, Head of Unemployment Insurance Division (JSC), more than 600 labours who lost their jobs came to proceed this procedure in the first two week in July. Apart from asking to enjoy the allowance, they also expected to get stable jobs.

At the peak of the pandemic outbreak, the employees can send the document via public post service or online declaration. Typically, To Thi Loan in Tan Dinh commune (Lang Giang district) lost her job since March 10, 2021. When Lang Giang district imposed Covid-19 prevention and control task in line with Government’s Decree No.16, meaning that no one can leave home, she proceeded the procedure to ask for unemployment allowance online then quickly received the supported amount in 4 months.

Since early this year, nearly 6,000 cases have been beneficial from the unemployment allowance with total amount of nearly 88.8 billion VND (3.8 million USD).

Amid the complicated development of the pandemic, the unemployment insurance policy has become a firm support to ease labourers’ difficulties in the period to seek a new job. The labours participating unemployment insurance increase year on year, making up total of over 253,900 people in the province.

Closely accompanying the businesses

Many enterprises suffered serious impacts by the pandemic. Since July 2021, apart from unemployment insurance policy, Vietnam Social Insurance offered more conditions for business to suspend paying for social insurance to the death and pension fund.

Since early this year, nearly 6,000 cases have been beneficial from the unemployment allowance with total amount of nearly 88.8 billion VND (3.8 million USD).

Previously, a company was allowed to delay paying for social insurance to the death and pension fund for the labour when it was impact by Covid-19 pandemic and must reduce at least 50 percent of the employees. However, now the business can enjoy this policy when only 15 percent of the labours were cut (comparing to April, 2021).

To date, 10 units in the province have been supported in line with the policy with total delayed payment for social insurance of nearly 6 billion VND, typically BT Fashion Company Limited (Viet Yen district), Long Ha Co.,Ltd (Bac Giang city), HTVN Production and Trading Joint Stock Company (Tan Yen district)...

The policy also help extend the business’ immediate payments to recover the production when the disease is well controlled.

On July 1, 2021, Government issued Resolution No.68/NQ-CP about 12 policies to support both employer and employee getting difficulties due to Covid-19 pandemic, three of which are related to social and unemployment insurances, including: reducing the payment rate for insurance of occupational injury and disease; delaying the payment to the death and pension fund; supporting training and maintaining jobs for labour.

On the occasion, the provincial Job Service Center has enhanced information connectivity to many agencies and businesses in and outside the province with employment demand to supply diverse job information to help the labour have more chances to get suitable job.
