Ho Chi Minh City prepares for injection of 3rd Covid-19 vaccine dose for some high-risk cases

The Ho Chi Minh City health sector will deploy a 3rd Covid-19 vaccine dose for frontline staff and those at high risk in November and December.

In addition, the city will continue to administer the 1st and 2nd vaccinations for people over 18 years old.

According to a report by the city's Department of Health, during the fourth Covid-19 epidemic outbreak, the city mobilised about 80,000 health workers to participate in epidemic prevention and control efforts, along with 25,000 medical staff from across the country who came to support the city. This large a mobilisation is unprecedented in history.

After a period of efforts, the epidemic has made positive changes, since October 1, the city has implemented Directive 18, loosening the social distance measures. The number of deaths has decreased greatly.

At the meeting, Ho Chi Minh City drew nine lessons from experience in directing and building an epidemic surveillance and warning system, on selective F0 isolation, promoting a two-pillar treatment strategy: community-based and hospital-based F0 care. This is also the foundation for the city to continue monitoring F0s under the motto of "Safe adaptation, flexibility, and effective control of the Covid-19 pandemic".

The city will continue to strengthen its capacity to cope with the Covid-19 epidemic in the coming time. One of the focuses is to promote vaccination against Covid-19 towards vaccine coverage for people in the city. The city will also continue to deploy testing to monitor the Covid-19 epidemic, organise safe and convenient medical isolation, and ensure epidemic prevention and control in production, commerce, and cultural and sports service business according to the sets of safety assessment criteria.
