Bac Giang focuses on pandemic prevention and control at year-end

(BGO) - In order to prevent and control the Covid-19 pandemic in the community, especially in weddings and funerals, over the past time, authorities and competent agencies in Bac Giang province have increased communications and requested residents to strictly comply with anti-epidemic regulations, but many localities still do not strictly follow them.

Enjoying happiness but not forgetting pandemic prevention

According to the regulations of the provincial People's Committee, currently, communes, wards and townships with pandemic level 1 (green zone) and level 2 (yellow zone) can hold weddings on a small scale. In fact, many families have voluntarily done it.

A few days ago, the family of Le Thu Hang in Hoang Van Thu ward (Bac Giang city) held a wedding for her son. To prevent the Covid-19, the families of both bride and groom agreed to hold a simple wedding. Despite having many relationships, her family only invited less than 50 relatives to attend the party. Tables and chairs were arranged to ensure a distance. In the area outside the wedding hall there were hand sanitizer and QR code. All attendees were tested for Covid-19.

Many families in Bac Giang city also held small-scale weddings. Some young people have registered their marriage but postponed the weddings to wait for the right time.

Nguyen Van Hung, Chairman of the People's Committee of Hoang Van Thu ward, said that families who hold a wedding must sign a commitment with the ward People's Committee on pandemic prevention and control and the number of guests. The ward’s urban order team and culture officers supervise the implementation of the commitment. Any family that does not comply with will be reminded and handled.

In many communes in Luc Nam district such as Luc Son, Nghia Phuong and Bac Lung, when issuing marriage certificates, leaders of the communal People's Committee and youth union reminded young people and their families not to organize large-scale parties and not to invite guests from pandemic-hit areas. When there is a wedding, the youth union sends representatives to support epidemic prevention. In other localities, people also do not share a meal in many death anniversaries.

Strengthening inspection and handling of violations

However, many families, when holding weddings, still held big parties with the participation of many guests who did not take Covid-19 tests before coming, did not strictly comply with the regulation on making medical declarations, and violated anti-pandemic rules.

Typically, on December 19, the People's Committee of Hiep Hoa district imposed an administrative fine of 10 million VND (4,300 USD) on Nguyen Thi Y, a resident in Hoang Luong commune, for organizing a wedding for her daughter but failing to strictly follow epidemic prevention measures.

Each family and each person need to strictly follow the regulations and guidelines on pandemic prevention and control, and limit mass gatherings. Local authorities and competent agencies, especially at the grassroots level, step up communications work, strengthen inspection of the implementation of anti-pandemic regulations, and strictly handle violations.

Previously, on November 28, a delegation of 19 people from the groom's family in Gai residential area, Doi Ngo township (Luc Nam) was on their way to pick up the bride in Quang Ninh province had to return because there was one person in the delegation reported to have positive test results.

According to Truong Van Nam, Vice Chairman of the Luc Ngan district People's Committee, in recent days, the district has continuously discovered infection cases (F0s) related to weddings and funerals in some communes. Leaders of the district People's Committee reminded communes that had not done well the communication work and management of the organization of weddings and funerals to ensure Covid-19 prevention and control.

Directive No. 17, dated December 27, 2021 by the Chairman of the provincial People's Committee on organizing Lunar New Year 2022 celebrations, clearly states that the heads of authorities and agencies at all levels are responsible to the Chairman of the provincial People's Committee for Covid-19 prevention and control in their localities, agencies and units. The directive also orders minimizing New Year celebration activities, parties and mass gatherings.

Therefore, each family and each person need to strictly follow the regulations and guidelines on pandemic prevention and control, and limit mass gatherings. Local authorities and competent agencies, especially at the grassroots level, step up communications work, strengthen inspection of the implementation of anti-pandemic regulations, and strictly handle violations.

It is necessary to promote the role of Party committees, Fatherland Front committees, mass organizations in residential areas, community Covid-19 teams, and inter-family groups in communications and supervision to raise people's awareness of pandemic prevention and control in order to protect themselves, their families and the community
