(BGO) - In recent days, the number of Covid-19 patients in Bac Giang province has increased, including many workers from other provinces who are working in local industrial zones and clusters. Many of them have been supported both materially and spiritually by local authorities, businesses, boarding house owners, and residents.
Sharing with infected workers
Viet Tien commune (Viet Yen district) has about 2,500 workers working at enterprises, including nearly 1,000 workers from other provinces who are staying in boarding houses. These days, the number of F0s in the commune has increased sharply, mainly workers. Even the commune recorded nearly 100 infections in a day.

Nguyen Viet Hung, Secretary of the communal Party Committee and head of the communal Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control, said that the number of community infections in the commune are mainly workers. At this time, businesses in the area do not organize testing and screening for workers anymore, but require them to go to their localities for testing. When there are symptoms of cough and fever, workers go to the health stations for testing, making pandemic prevention and control in the localities more difficult.
At the boarding house of Nguyen Sy Toan in Ha village, Viet Tien commune, 10 out of 20 boarded workers contracted Covid-19. Most of them came from Ha Giang province. They got infected just only one week after arriving for working. They had no money, food, and cooking tools, so Toan initially provided them with instant noodles and water boilers so that they can feel secure in treatment.
Mobilizing support forces, removing difficulties
Similarly, on the morning of February 24, the number of workers coming to the health station of Nenh township (Viet Yen district) increased dramatically. Only in the morning, the medical force took samples and conducted quick tests for more than 300 people, 80 percent of them turned out positive results.

Then the infection cases were instructed to make medical declarations and carry out relevant procedures, as well as given drugs for treatment at home or sent to concentrated treatment facilities. For workers from other provinces, after making a medical declaration, they actively contacted medical facilities receiving and treating workers from other provinces for guidance.
According to the Health Center of the provincial Industrial Parks, from 2pm on February 23 to 2pm on February 24, there were 1,359 Covid-19 cases in businesses in industrial zones, of them 925 were detected at enterprises and the rest found in localities. Since February 16, in industrial zones there have been 4,578 infected workers and 1,670 related F1s.
According to regulations, local workers return to their localities for quarantine and treatment, while those from other provinces are sent to the province's Covid-19 treatment facility at the CT3 building of Fuji Bac Giang Development JSC.
However, due to the high number of new cases in the past few days, many businesses have not been able to bring workers into the facility for treatment in the recent two days, many of them had to self-quarantine and treat themselves in boarding rooms.
On the morning of February 24, many residents and workers went to the heath station of Nenh township for Covid-19 testing. |
To solve this difficulty, on February 23, the People's Committee of Viet Yen district issued a notice requiring localities to receive and treat workers from other provinces who are found to be positive for SARS-CoV-2 in the localities. The People's Committees of communes and townships were asked to mobilize maximum forces to ensure that all patients are given codes. Attention must be paid to treating positive cases right at their boarding rooms.
Many businesses have vowed to ensure the rights of workers and employees when they have to stop working because of the Covid-19 epidemic. For example, the Crystal Martin Co., Ltd (Quang Chau Industrial Park), along with pledging to pay 70 percent of salary for cases taking leave from work for Covid-19 treatment (up to 14 days), spent 1 billion VND (43,800 USD) organizing a new spring draw for workers and distributing free masks and Vitamin C effervescent tablets to them.
In fact, there are still many F0 workers from other provinces who are in difficult circumstances. Therefore, businesses and local authorities are required to pay attention to and provide timely support for them.
