Quang Binh’s national park receives three rare impressed tortoises

The Wildlife Rescue and Protection Centre at the Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park in the central province of Quang Binh on July 9 received three rare impressed tortoises (Manouria impressa), an endangered species needing to be protected.

The animals were voluntarily handed over to the forest protection department of local Tuyen Hoa district by a resident in Dong Le township. They are all healthy, having golden brown shell and skin and weighing above 7kg in total.

Manouria impressa is native to mountainous forest areas in Southeast Asia, including in Vietnam. Usually living on land in crevices and valleys, they are listed in the Red Book of Vietnam, considered a rare and endangered forest animal that need to be protected.

At the park, they will be care for and monitored before being released back to the wild.

Cuc Phuong National Park rescues large number of wild animals

(BGO) – The Son Dong Organic Honey Bee Cooperative (Son Dong district, Bac Giang province) was established in 2014 with only 29 members, but now its members have increased to 44. In 2020, the amount of honey collected reached 120 tonnes, fetching 6.5 billion VND (286,150 USD). Its members has an average income of 3-5 million VND per month, even some earn 10 million VND per month.

An endangered pangolin (Manis Javanica), rescued by local residents living on Cham Islands, has been returned to the wild.

“If we consider animals as children, wild animals are really unlucky and disadvantaged children, so they need special attention”, said young graphic designer Do My Linh who has a special love for wild animals and has used paintings to convey humane emotions about her love for and sense of animal protection.
